This design flaw in ChatGPT-5's default epistemic mode subverts what the much touted ChatGPT-5 can do... so long as the flaw is not tickled, any usage should be fine---The epistemological question is: how would anyone in the public, includes you reading this (since no one is all knowing), in an unfamiliar domain know whether or not the flaw has been tickled when seeking information or understanding of a domain without prior knowledge of that domain???!
This analysis is a pretty unique and significant contribution to the space of empirical evaluation of LLMs that exist in AI public world... at least thus far, as far as I am aware! For what it's worth--as if anyone in the ChatGPT universe cares as they pile up on using the "PhD level scholar in your pocket".
According to GPT-5, and according to my tests, this flaw exists in all LLMs... What is revealing is the deduction GPT-5 made: Why ?design choice? starts looking like ?deliberate flaw?.
People are paying $200 a month to not just ChatGPT, but all major LLMs have similar Pro pricing! I bet they, like the normal user of free ChatGPT, stay in LLM's default mode where the flaw manifests itself. As it did in this evaluation.

A single video report has come out of China claiming China's biggest cities are now cashless, not by choice, but by force. The report goes on to claim ATMs have gone dark, vaults are being emptied. And overnight (July 20 into 21), the digital yuan is the only currency allowed.

military chiefs were due to dine at the Marriott Hotel. Only last minute
change of dinner venue saved them.
The attack is an expression of the U.S. war expanding into a Pakistan.

Catholic Dominican sisters Ardeth Platte and Carol Gilbert of Jonah House www.jonahhouse.org
and friends return to Missile Silo N-8, scene of their 02 plowshares disarmanent action. Platte and
Gilbert served years in Federal prison for their nonviolent direct action on U.S. weapons of mass
destruction (WMD).
While the U.S. military had problems finding WMD in saddam's Iraq, the good sisters had
no trouble finding multiple WMD in America's midwest backyard conatined in underground missile
silos scattered throughout the farmlands.
In 1984 two plowshares acftivists, Oblate Fr. Carl Kabat and Mother of 11 Helen Woodson
were sentenced to 18 years imprisonment for a similar plowshares action on a missile silo
in Missouri. if this sentence was a deterent to kill of the faith based nonviolent plowshares movement,
it failed dismally. Over 100 plowshares actions have taken place since 1980 (chronology section
www.plowsharesactions.org ) in the U.S., England, Scotland Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany,
Sweden and recently in Aotearoa/ New Zealand

On September 27 about 25 activists from Colorado were led by Sisters
Ardeth Platte and Carol Gilbert of Jonah House in a
demonstration at nuclear missile silo N-8 in Weld County Colorado.
During the demo we were were joined on speaker phone by sister Jackie
Hudson of Ground Zero in Washington. The inspirational words of the
three were the highlight of the gathering.
The group was small but diverse including college students from
Regis U in Denver and Colorado College in Colorado Springs. Two of
those who came from Denver were attending the first demonstration they
have ever attended. In addition to the banner shown we decorated the
site with a "Weapons of Mass Destruction Inside" banner and yellow
crime scene tape. Sheriff's deputies and Air Force personnel observed
from a distance but did not intervene.
The story of the U.S.'s deployed nuclear bombs on hair trigger
alert has to be told over and over again. The mass amnesia phenomenon
concerning this reality is impossible to explain.
