They wont attack Iran without firstly 'disarming' them using the UN, and then sanctions to starve the population half to death for a decade or so.Why ?. Because the Generals up to the president are all cowards.
All that crap about 'Delta Force' and 'elete units' is rubbish in light of their so called success in Iraq and Afghanistan.
'Honour-bound to fight for Fredom' and the other pathetic marine code worn out cliche 'These colours dont run', all US military slogan- ideologising falls short when you look at the facts
The US are not the 'Home of the Brave'. They are the Home of the bully and the land of the cowards.

They took on Sadam after 12 years sanctions including an arms embargo, disarmed him twice with the UN weapons teams, and with the most technically sophisticated heavily armed Air-force, they destroyed Iraq . But lets not leave out the fact that they had already blown Iraq... 'back to the stone age'... in 1991

I think theres a lot more manouvering to do before they actually do attack, and with Irelands help we will destroy another country on Baraks command or Mcains.
But Tomilee is right .All these threats are tactical and should be acknoweleged and monitored.

Last week we witnessed missiles launches that we supposed to make us all quake like jelly before the might of mighty Iran.

But the reality is that Iran's military is in a dire state.

The Iranian air force is composed of a fleet of obsolete 1960's & 1970's aircraft such as the F-5 Northrop, the F-4 Phantom and the F-14 Tomcat and a collection of Soviet MiG's. No match for the Israeli and US Air Force and US Navy F-15. F-16, F-18, F-22 and F-35 fighter aircraft or B1, B2 and B52 strategic bombers that will shoot them from the sky or destroy them on the ground.

The Iranian navy is composed of a fleet of tiny patrol boats and miniature submarines. Hardly a match for the aircraft carriers, missiles cruisers and destroyers and missile submarines of the US Navy.

The Iranian army has a few modern units and a few "modern" battle tanks (modifyied versions of obsolete M-48 and M-60 tanks) and obsolete Soviet T-72 tanks, obsolete BMP armoured personnel carriers and obsolete artillery guns.
No match for the Abrams and Bradley's of the US Army and Marine Corps or the two-engine A/10 Tankbuster or Apache helicopter gunships.

What regular forces do exist will become the backbone for press-ganged divisions of peasant conscripts that will be launched in human waves over the Iraqi border in the event of an attack by Israel or the US and certain to be rained with cluster bombs, napalm, daisy cutters and heavy artillery.

The Iranian missile launchers are vulnerable to being located by statelite once their missiles are fired and quickly eliminated by ground attack aircraft.

Stockpiles of rockets waiting in the open will be a big fat target for air strikes.

Special Forces such as the Delta Force, Navy Seals, SAS and Israeli special forces who are among the best in the world supported by air power would make short work of Iranian nuclear installations.

The Iranians are not stupid of course.

They can't stop what is coming.

[-----Iran on Saturday condemned remarks by U.S. presidential candidate John McCain who said one way of killing Iranians was to export cigarettes to Iran, the country's official news agency IRNA reported.

"We condemn such remarks as ugly and immoral, especially for someone who intends to lead a country claiming civilization," Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Husseini said.

McCain last Wednesday joked with reporters about sending Iranians cigarettes. "That's a way of killing them," McCain told a journalist who asked him about reports that U.S. exports, especially cigarettes, to Iran increased tenfold during the current administration of President George W. Bush.

As others around him laughed uncomfortably and his wife Cindy poked him in the back, McCain quickly said: "I meant that as a joke ... as a person who hasn't had a cigarette in 28 years." ---------]

On its website the Irish Anti War Movement makes no mention of these ongoing threats to Iran . The IAWM leadership appears to be taking the line that the threats are only Zionist propaganda that should be ignored . This line is extremely dangerous . Posters to this site like Bazooka Joe whose views concur with the IAWM position should ask themselves and the IAWM leadership why the IAWM is not at least bringing the threats to the attention of the Irish people even if they think that the Zionists are just bluffing .
