Dear Ms Gilloway
Ref: Greenore Port Consultation: 1st and 2nd July 2008 in Greenore Assembley Room in respect of claiming the foreshore for 300 metre pier etc.
The pier you are planning is outside of the Irish court jurisdiction with jurisdiction claimed by Greenore Cooley Fisherman’s Association (GCFA) as in the Republic of Carlingford Lough since 1970. I have proof of a response from the president 26th June 2002. Similar objections have been logged in respect of Crown Rights on the northern side of the Lough.
If the port were to build the proposed pier my human rights would be infringed on as I have personally used the proposed area of sea for rowing as tides are slacker there than at the point and area suitable for swimming and small craft activity. My quality of life would be very much diminished if my access is terminated from Greenore to Ballagan Point in my small 8 foot tender.
As a consequence I hereby object to your proposed development.
Yours Sincerely
+ Michael Desmond Hynes

Dear Ms Gilloway
Ref: Consultation: 1st and 2nd July 2008 in Greenore Assembley Room
I Michael Desmond Hynes have used the cutting since before 1970 to store fishing boats and fishing gear on land below
I strongly object to a playground for children in this area. Members of GCFA in the past had got my permission and blessing to store vessels and gear within the confined of the cutting area. Potting and netting have been a frequent sight on this land area which catered for over 200 lobster pots plus 3 vessels and this would infringe on our civil liberties. The adjacent sea area is unsafe for swimmers.
As in the past I personally have no problem with people walking or taking a stroll in the area once they do not damage my property boats trailers fishing gear etc. I would have no problem with other boating enthusiastic using the cutting except for jet skiers.
As well I have serious concern for the safety of children who would frequent this area unaccompanied by guardians as there are many dangers for their safety such as Paedophiles, thief's as well as the strong currents which is a no go area for safety while swimming on the foreshore.
Yours Sincerely
+Michael Desmond Hynes

Meeting of Greenore Cooley Fisherman's Association (GCFA) Sunday 20th April 2008
The meeting took place @ 5 Anglesea Terrace Greenore Co Louth @ 11 am and was well attended and represented by members of the GCFA.
Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved.
Matters arising were dealt with.
The agenda focused mainly on commercial and pleasure fishing, - the Greenore Port et al - developments on the foreshore, - Carlingford Lough, - and the Cutting. Main highlights are as follows:
A general discussion was focused on mussel, cockle, and razor fishing in Carlingford Lough and Dundalk Bay respectively as well as the “Wind farm Project” and the Biodiesel Proposed plant @ Greenore. No actions were taken here.
The Secretary Dr Hynes informed the meeting “there was no reply back yet from RPS in Belfast where a submission was made in April 2007 as a result of a public meeting with Greenore Port et el in April 2007 in the Greenore Assembley Rooms. A copy of the submission can be seen on the GCFA website http://clik.to/GCFA and in respect of the said an application is being sought by Greenore Port Ltd as on 15th February 2008 An Bord Pleanala decided the proposed development (Ref: PC0011), qualified as strategic infrastructure under section 37A(2)(c) of the Act. The GCFA strongly object to the Port Development for the reasons stated in their submission to the RPS (see website http://clik.to/GCFA )
The Landfill @ Greenore Point: it was agreed that it is acceptable to most line fisher people out from the fact that taking the bushes away means there is urgent need for a public toilet as one member quoted “you cannot hold what you have not got in your hand” and as well it is problematic when nature calls for a leak with no public toilet means it is problematic for tourists as well as the many rod fisher people who frequent the foreshore especially over the summer and autumn months. Action Taken: over the coming weeks a three man delegation led by Dr Hynes Chairman, Mr Seán Crudden and Mr Eric Cuthbert are to seek a clarification via meetings with Greenore Port Ltd, Louth County Council on improving Greenore Point in the interests of all concerned. Mr Cuthbert informed the meeting there were dangers where children are concerned if playing around the Point of Greenore but he thought it was now a better place for fishing with the rod and would love to see the rocks covered over with cement. One member stated “the rocks were a hiding place for rats”!
Chairman of GCFA Dr Michael D Hynes is to find out what progress GRTT Ltd is at with their plans for the Cutting” (Book 112 No 11).
Mr Sean Crudden stood for election on behalf of GCFA to Louth Leader Partnership. He was proposed by Archbishop Dr Michael D Hynes and Mr Damien Hulme of GCFA but lost out to a Mr Larry Magnier of a residents association from Blackrock Co Louth. The election took place The Park Inn Hotel Dundalk Thursday the 13th of March 2008.
This GCFA meeting managed well and concluded at mid day. Next Meeting is scheduled for the 20th July 2008 @ 11 AM in Anglesea Terrace venue.
Signed: Dr M D Hynes
Chairperson GCFA
