![]() Peter symonds reflects on the decision of the Bush Regime to brand the iranian Revolutionary Guards as a weapons proliferator and a supporter of terrorism. Who says irony is dead when the Bushistas come out with this kind of guff? Peter symonds also deals with the heightening tensions regarding nuclear power in Iran. An article in the British-based Sunday Times entitled, “Will Bush really bomb Iran?” noted that the US air force had made a request for Congressional funding for an “urgent operational need from theatre commanders” for $88 million to equip B2 stealth bombers with a 13,600 lb bomb known as a massive ordinance penetrator. The MOP is an advanced “bunker buster” bomb designed to destroy targets deep underground. There are no sites in Iraq or Afghanistan that would justify an “urgent” order of such weapons—the obvious targets are Iran’s nuclear facilities, especially the Natanz enrichment plant, which is housed in a huge underground cavern. |
