This is a public interest story about a complete failure of governance and management at UCC.

offsite link Deliberate Design Flaw In ChatGPT-5 Sun Aug 17, 2025 08:04 | Mind Agent
Socratic Dialog Between ChatGPT-5 and Mind Agent Reveals Fatal and Deliberate 'Design by Construction' Flaw
This design flaw in ChatGPT-5's default epistemic mode subverts what the much touted ChatGPT-5 can do... so long as the flaw is not tickled, any usage should be fine---The epistemological question is: how would anyone in the public, includes you reading this (since no one is all knowing), in an unfamiliar domain know whether or not the flaw has been tickled when seeking information or understanding of a domain without prior knowledge of that domain???!

This analysis is a pretty unique and significant contribution to the space of empirical evaluation of LLMs that exist in AI public world... at least thus far, as far as I am aware! For what it's worth--as if anyone in the ChatGPT universe cares as they pile up on using the "PhD level scholar in your pocket".

According to GPT-5, and according to my tests, this flaw exists in all LLMs... What is revealing is the deduction GPT-5 made: Why ?design choice? starts looking like ?deliberate flaw?.

People are paying $200 a month to not just ChatGPT, but all major LLMs have similar Pro pricing! I bet they, like the normal user of free ChatGPT, stay in LLM's default mode where the flaw manifests itself. As it did in this evaluation.

Evaluating Semantic Reasoning Capability of AI Chatbot on Ontologically Deep Abstract (bias neutral) Thought
I have been evaluating AI Chatbot agents for their epistemic limits over the past two months, and have tested all major AI Agents, ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, Perplexity, and DeepSeek, for their epistemic limits and their negative impact as information gate-keepers.... Today I decided to test for how AI could be the boon for humanity in other positive areas, such as in completely abstract realms, such as metaphysical thought. Meaning, I wanted to test the LLMs for Positives beyond what most researchers benchmark these for, or have expressed in the approx. 2500 Turing tests in Humanity?s Last Exam.. And I chose as my first candidate, Google DeepMind's Gemini as I had not evaluated it before on anything.

offsite link Israeli Human Rights Group B'Tselem finally Admits It is Genocide releasing Our Genocide report Fri Aug 01, 2025 23:54 | 1 of indy
We have all known it for over 2 years that it is a genocide in Gaza
Israeli human rights group B'Tselem has finally admitted what everyone else outside Israel has known for two years is that the Israeli state is carrying out a genocide in Gaza

Western governments like the USA are complicit in it as they have been supplying the huge bombs and missiles used by Israel and dropped on innocent civilians in Gaza. One phone call from the USA regime could have ended it at any point. However many other countries are complicity with their tacit approval and neighboring Arab countries have been pretty spinless too in their support

With the release of this report titled: Our Genocide -there is a good chance this will make it okay for more people within Israel itself to speak out and do something about it despite the fact that many there are actually in support of the Gaza

THIS STORY IS UNVERIFIED BUT PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO OR READ THE TRANSCRIPT AS IT GIVES AN VERY GOOD IDEA OF WHAT A CASHLESS SOCIETY WILL LOOK LIKE. And it ain't pretty

A single video report has come out of China claiming China's biggest cities are now cashless, not by choice, but by force. The report goes on to claim ATMs have gone dark, vaults are being emptied. And overnight (July 20 into 21), the digital yuan is the only currency allowed.

Garda resources at Bellanaboy should be redeployed into fight against crime – Ó Snodaigh

Garda resources at Bellanaboy should be redeployed into fight against
crime – Ó Snodaigh

For immediate release 11th October 2007

Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson Aengus Ó Snodaigh has slammed the extent
of the Garda operation at Bellanaboy County Mayo after it was revealed
that €8.1million has been spent to date on Garda resources to police
demonstrations against the Shell Gas pipeline. Deputy Ó Snodaigh said
these valuable Garda resources would be better deployed in the fight
against crime.

Speaking today he said, “In response to a Sinn Féin Parliamentary
question Justice Minister Brian Lenihan revealed that €8.1million has so
far been spent on the operation to police the protests at Bellanaboy in
County Mayo. It is our understanding that this figure may be even higher
as it may not include all aspects of policing allocations such as
overtime.

“The people of Mayo have the right to protest without being harassed by
an overwhelming and unnecessary force of Gardaí. And make no mistake –
they are not keeping peace in Bellanaboy – they are harassing and
bullying protesters while supporting the multi-national corporation
Shell.

“This is a completely irresponsible and wasteful use of valuable Garda
resources. These resources would be much better used in the fight
against serious drug and gun crime which is claiming lives on an almost
weekly basis. I am calling on the Minister to review the Garda
operation at Bellanaboy with a view to redeploying Gardaí to where they
are most needed.

“There also needs to be a review of existing approaches to policing at
demonstrations. This should include seeking external human rights
expertise to roll out training for all Gardaí engaged in such policing.
Gardaí should always endeavour to engage positively with the organisers
of demonstrations prior to them taking place so that they can be
facilitated with minimal Garda presence.

Sinn Féin Spokesperson on Natural Resources, Martin Ferris TD has called on the Green Party to clarify its position in relation to the Corrib gas project.

Responding to a number of recent comments by Green Party Ministers to questions on various aspects of the planned pipeline in Mayo Deputy Ferris said:

"In a reply to one of my Dáil questions yesterday, Minister Eamonn Ryan said that as a Minister he could express no preference for any proposed route. However, the Greens, in opposition, promised that they would intervene if in Government to address the concerns of the local population.

"The Greens also, prior to their elevation, committed themselves to ensuring that the gas would be processed at sea. Indeed the Greens emphasised the environmental as opposed to the economic aspects of the project. Now they appear content to go along with the current government position that when in opposition they were so critical of.

"It is more important than ever as we enter a new licensing round for the Porcupine Basin and in a week when the discovery of another potentially rich source of oil and gas has been announced, that all issues around mineral exploration are addressed.

"Nothing done to date meets the concerns surrounding fiscal terms, integration with the wider economy or fears over environmental damage. The Greens are in a prime position to address those problems but have demonstrated little intention to do so." ENDS

"In response to a Sinn Féin Parliamentary question" my god but it real courage and conviction for SF to ask such a difficult question.
A cynic might assume SF are trying to score points against the government.
But as history has shown (07 election) the people of Erris don't have much faith in SF, so apart from the question showing the cost of policing the S2S campaign what is the point in asking ?
There is no real alternative to a heavy Garda presence at the protests, if the protestors are determined to halt work on the project.

They could always try cleaning the gas at sea. The government are running a €30,000-a-day Garda operation at Bellanaboy. If the field operates for 15-20 years, that will come to €150-200 million. Building an inland refinery is a false economy.I know this may sound exotic, and I could be accused of being anti-Mayo, but we could learn a lot from Cork if we wanted.

The primary concern of the Guarda Siochana in Ireland should be to ' Upkeep the Peace' and to fight crime As the saying goes ' If the law is the law' it applies to you also, you are not infallible. Having seen the heavy handed policing tactics used in Bellanaboy first hand, It is a sad and sorry state of affairs that some members of the force are abusing their privilages and make no mistake it has not gone unoticed. This sort of behaviour should be dealt with accordingly.

Covering up your badges will not work and you will be named and shamed

Intimidatory tactics as following and spying on local citizens who are going about their lawful business is also to be condemmed.

I state this as not an attack on the force as a whole as I am a law abiding citizen, but as a warning to any state body who may think that they are beyond the law.

Community policing, means what it implies, working alongside the community and addressing their concerns and needs, not the needs of foreign corporations who are hell bent on destroying the environment.
