Important Campaign to be launched early May.

‘Hands Off the People of Iran’ has been set up on the initiative of Iranian organisations and individuals and has now support internationally. Its aim is to oppose any attack on Iran and at the same time give Solidarity to the fight of the Iranian people against that repressive regime. The campaign has contacts with students, Workers and women’s organisations In Iran. These movements are firmly against any US military attack or intervention. But they are also in daily struggle with the Islamic Republic.

The campaign has been already set up in a number of European countries and support is growing steadily with a number of high-profile left-wing politicians signing up. In Ireland it already has the support of David Norris senator, Joe Moore CWU and Patrick Nulty - Chair, Labour Youth.

Meetings will take place in Cork on 9th May (7.30 Victoria Hotel),

Dublin on 10th May (7.30 Teachers Club, Parnell Square) .

Belfast (Queens University) on 11th May.

Yassamine Mather, an Iranian political activist, will also speak. She is also available for interviews.

Yassamine Mather has been involved in Iranian left-wing politics since she took part in the 1979 revolution there. She writes regularly on the issues affecting Iran and plays an active role in promoting human rights concerns and struggles for democracy. She is also Deputy Editor of Critique, Journal of Socialist Theory, and is a member of the Centre for the Study of Socialist Theory and Movements, Glasgow University. She is on the coordinating committee of Workers Left Unity Iran.
