Thirty Left-wing MPs have written to Ofcom to press it to censor X under the Online Safety Act. The evidence of 'hate' on the platform is threadbare, but it's obvious why they want to clip its wings, says Laurie Wastell.

Store Threatens Legal Action Against Boycotters of Fur Products

category national | animal rights | news report author Wednesday July 17, 2002 22:37author by Animal Rights Action Network Report this post to the editors

The (ARAN) has being organising all sorts of pressure to get Heirlooms located on cruises street in limerick city to abandon their sale of Cat Rabbit Fur Figurines.

The thing is, the store is being so awkward and can easily do their part to stop
the suffering in a big way by refusing to sell and stock these - and its not as
if the shelves will empty. Also the store has written to ARAN telling us of
apparent legal action if we did not call off the boycott and keep telling
protesters, people that write or call or call into the store to speak with their
solicitors - but the thing is the final decision is not with their solicitors
but with the store. There being so awkward and so will we.

Please, yet again there has being two great peaceful and legal demos at their
store, three phone blockades and we know of lots and lots of letters are being
sent in including letters from big animal protection groups. But we need to tell
Heirlooms that the decision is with them not the solicitors and that legal
action cannot silence peaceful protest and to stop the sale of real rabbit fur.

Please find the time to politely write later today, tonite or tommorow and even
better try and fax and call the store.

Heirlooms
32 A Cruises Street,
Limerick City.

Tel & Fax: 061-419111

This is a campaign that can be won, after one demo Guiney's of ireland
decided never to use rabbit fur figurines again - and the market is growing with
sightings being reported by activists in cork.

"Please Forward Far And Wide"

ARAN is a peaceful & legal grassroots animal protection group, and nothing
contained in this e.action is intended on inciting or encouraging illegal acts.

These gimmicky toys are made in the Far East from the fur of farmed rabbits that have been bred for food. The skin is a by product that would otherwise be discarded, so a bit of extra money is being made by selling it. You are not going to 'save' the rabbits by campaigning against the 'cats'.

I find it odd that people would pay for these things though, when you can get any number of REAL cats for nothing.
