Garland escapes extradition

category national | crime and justice | news report author Tuesday March 20, 2007 12:10author by Seamus O Raghallaighauthor email twtone at lycos dot com Report this post to the editors

It seems now that arch stickie Sean Garland will now escape extradition after all.
You might recall that he had to flee the 6 counties not so long ago to avoid the PSNI\RUC extraditing him to America to face allegations of forging US bank notes in collusion with N.Korea.

This is a result of the latest tete a tete between N.Korea and the US. In attempts to encourage the process it seems the yanks have agreed to overlook the whole forgery affair and thus it seems to be that Garland wont be donning an orange boiler suit with matching ear muffs anytime soon, and mores the pity in many peoples opinion (see a recent thread here on Indymedia on Garlands threatened extradition, if anyone has the link can they post it as I cant find it).

Is mise le meas,
Seamus

Not just one: a thousand threads bloomed to tell the story of Sean Garland. So forge ahead and read them. Mind your fingers though, the ink might still be wet.

Taken straight from the Phoenix that well known source of insider information in the CIA and international diplomacy.

The story was in Phoenix nearly a fortnight ago and the Phoenix ads have been pushing it on the radio for over a week. It appears you have awoken Seamus. Don't know how accurate the story is though, Phoenix sometimes make things up or add 2 and 2 and get 111.

I'll certainly rest easy in my bed with that knowledge

Speaking of good journalism: a good journalist always checks the spelling of names. I presume you are referring to Eoghan Harris.

Yes, good to hear that Garland won't be extradited. Ironic when you think of the WPs support for extradition over the years. Funny though, the sdame people who were opposing Garlands extradition, Enda Kenny, Pat Rabbotte, were calling for the extradition of the Colombia 3!

Good to hear this story, the whole Seán Garland thing was little more than an American attempt to get in a vindictive jab at an Irish politician who had the chutzpah to oppose their war in Iraq - unfortunately for Garland, he had known links to the Korean Workers Party so it was not too much of a leap for the Washington to mix Garland up in the superdollar debacle (has that been proven, by the way?).

As for stances on the Colombia 3 - rather hypocritical, perhaps, but the C3 were (allegedly) involved in training a terrorist group so at least there's some justification for it.

Now the WP can go back to obscurity...

If you access some of the links provided you will see that a case was certainly made for Garlands involvement in the supper dollar ring. He has yet to explain his links with English gangsters, ex KGB officers and how he can afford to stay in $500 a night suites in 5 star hotels in Moscow. Maybe the WP give good expenses.

Theres also the matter of the WP front company GKI and why was Sean Garland (as a rep of GKI) meeting with Madam Bao, a leading member of the Chinese CP. Apparently it was to discuss business opportunities. Its all there, check out the previous threads.

As for the Columbia 3 training terrorists, well Sean Garland led a terrorist organisation for years, the OIRA.

"the whole Seán Garland thing was little more than an American attempt to get in a vindictive jab at an Irish politician who had the chutzpah to oppose their war in Iraq"

Maybe the N koreans invented a clever trail that led back to Garland knowing the Americans would then spend all their time getting in their jab leaving the crafty commies to take over the world...

You are wise beyond your years, stickie.

Yes I must acknowledge the Phoenix was my source of information on this story, however as I live abroad my copy of the magazine arrives 1-2 weeks after publication. As I never heard anymore on indymedia about the fate of the supreme stickie commander I thought I might share it with readers of Indymedia, not all of whom are readers of the Phoenic I presume?

Anyway, Im sure this leaves Garland free to develop the old WP HQ in Dublin and make a nice retirement package for himself....

Krossie,
Eoghan Harris is no longer a Stalinist (A-hem) nor does he preach the gospel of Mao as he once did. He is a Conservative Unwilling to Negociate with Terrorists. If you see what I mean.

It is not important that his own people never saw it.

fair play to him.

It would have made for good memoires though generally the lack of memoires is part of the deal. I suppose if any of you have a copy of PN14342 it's past time now to realise it really is worth something after all. Once upon a time as told to you in the safe depths of the archives where no editor could collate it easily - the 100$ note was worth about 100€ but no-one paid that much for it - great! that'0s why they were almost as popular as the 50stg equivalent. You could buy a skateboard, 2 hits of crack, an appointment at the midwife and the bus from Draweeda. But now they really are valuable. collectors' items I'm going to leave my mine in Andorra.
What a wonderful chapter of history is closed. Benjamin Franklin (the man on the note) would have been delighted. A little consolation link to jolly roger's guide to faking money
