The Unmanageables Celebrate International Womens Day

International Women's Day

"Oh it's international Women's Day and so many issues have been co-opted and the
'F' word is become a dirty word for some people, what shall we do?"

We decided that the source of a lot of our bad legislation which mitigates
against women and children, especially the Criminal Law (sexual Offences) Bill
2006, emanted from the Offices of the Tanaiste and Minister for Justice,
Michael Mc Dowell.

We decided, therefore to 'unmanage' him.
8th March 07
8th March 07

We went to the Luas which overshadows his property and dropped a banner off the bridge
and greeted morning workers with little hand-made dolls. The kindly security staff
(6 of them) came and we had a chat, there were two women and they should
have had the day off.

We symbolically blocked his Minister Mc Dowell's driveway.

The we did an RTS and held the banner across the Ranelagh road, a lot of beeping
and cheers, the cops even came for a chat, took some notes and went away!

The issues of gender imbalance in the legislature and bad law will only be
addressed and alleivated with more women in positions to take on these problems.
Ireland has 13% women representation in the Dail and we think it could be improved
an awful lot.

We can raise awareness of this by encoraging people to actually think about issues
relevant to women voters when they put their little 'X' in the box.

There are many worthwhile protests today- some announced and some not
so come out and support them, the photos are on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done sisters. One of the latest on this man is that he threatened the Village , it's printers and shops selling the magazine ,with a law suit if it published information on a meeting he had with a Private Detective, wherein they had "a curious conversation about a judge". P 36, current issue of Village. WHATEVER COULD THAT BE ABOUT ? WHO COULD THIS JUDGE BE ? WHAT MIGHT HE OR SHE HAVE DONE ? WHY IS McDOWELL SO JUMPY ABOUT ONE OF HIS LEGAL FRIENDS IN THE JUDICIAL FRATERNITY ? WHATEVER COULD BE GOING ON ????

A member of the Bar Council approached us today and said that the quality of legislation
is 'not good'- "a first year law student can see the holes in the emergency legislation".

That is a problem- is it not?

Is Minister Mc Dowell the Worst Minister for Justice in the History of the State?

When one considers what has happened under this man McDowell's watch as AG and Minister for Justice for TEN years, how about a mass display of names of victims of abuse, deaths in police custody, non invesigation of child abuse, bent cops, etc etc.??

It is up to the victims to name their names..... a lot of them choose not to do
so , and some that come forward suffer media speculation and isolation.
[and bullying scenarios]

I do know some victims of the failure of the State , they will keep going
highlighting the issues and problems, in particular victims of domestic
or sexual violence. There are good support and advocacy groups for them in
the main. It's also necessary for people to give community supports and
respect the wish for privacy. The tiny % we see in the media and community
forums (such as the IMC's) are , believe me, the tip of the ice-berg.
