It's widely assumed that people on the right are more likely to believe that genes matter for success. However, a new poll shows that overwhelming majorities of both Democrats and Republicans deny the role of genes.

Defenders of the climate 'consensus' have been getting angry in recent weeks, leading to embarrassing outbursts in the media. It's a sign of crisis in a scientific establishment that has banned dissent, says Ben Pile.

Protest at "Exploring Atlantic Ireland" event

category dublin | environment | event notice author Monday November 06, 2006 17:09author by Shell To Sea - Dublin Shell to Sea Report this post to the editors

Another Shell To Sea event for Wednesday-Meet at Burlington Hotel bus-stop@6.45

An important event is taking place on Wednesday and Thursday (8th to 9th November) in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin. Ireland’s Atlantic “Petroleum Province” is being discussed. Confused?

This “Province” consists of all the Irish Atlantic oil and gas fields that have been explored so far.
At present, the Irish Government is handing out licences to Shell, Exxon-Mobil, Statoil, and others as fast as they can. The Irish Government and the global oil and gas industry are working in close partnership, and have been for many years. Shell and Statoil, the energy multinationals involved in the Corrib project, will be represented, as will the Minister for Marine and Natural Resources, who is to give the opening address.
Its a grand giveaway!
Its a grand giveaway!

A protest is to take place in the evening as the corporate and governmental delegates dine and discuss new and better ways to divide out the natural resources of this land among the oil nad power giants.
This conference is being staged in Dublin as a few hours drive away,State and corporate security are combining to force one such example of these projects upon a local community who does not want it there and is actively resisting.
This conference is being staged as the Great Gas Giveaway of our time is being consolidated,as Shell,Statoil and Marathon tighten their grip on what was once the poeple of Irelands, but was relinquished to these companies for next to nothing

But the resistance to the current scandal is growing once again and is resolute and determined not to let such a national travesty and local nightmare get to this stage again.

There is a picket at Ushers Quay Statoil at 6.30-this event is clashing to a certain degre but unfortunately to mount a meaningful protest it is necessary to be at the Burlington at 6.45-whichever suits people.

Meet at the Burlington Hotel Bus-stop on upper Leeson Street at 5.45-Its a short walk from Stephens Green or a short busride (46A) from the city centre.

This wednesday's WSM picket has been moved to outside the Burlington so as not to clash.
