The UN Security Council draft resolution on Lebanon stinks with Israeli spoor !

category limerick | anti-war | other press author Tuesday August 08, 2006 14:10author by Fiona Murphy - IAWM Report this post to the editors

No Israeli "celebration parties till the resolution is passed".

The only thing preventing Israeli officials from jumping up and down with glee, according Aluf Benn of the daily Haaretz newspaper, was the fear that "demonstrated Israeli enthusiasm for the draft could influence support among Security Council members, who could demand a change in wording that may adversely affect Israel." So no celebration parties till the resolution is passed.

Israel was born in war for the zionist project.

http://www.cactus48.com/OriginMSW.pdf

Todays war may have excuses but the over reaction is nothing new as the above link indicates.

The political realities of 1948 governing the western and Arab response were not that different than today.

We can not turn back time but the UN security council should consider the "western values" of justice and fairness.

Not that they will

Can't believe that you imbeciles spend so much on doctored photos when there is plenty of proof that Israel has venomously and murderously torn Lebanon to shreds. That's the real injustice - not some damn photo. There has always been doctoring of photos during times of war. Remember truth is the first casualty of war. But the truth of this war has to be that Lebanon was attacked by Israel - the great occupyers at it again - without provocation. Those 2 captured soldiers cannot possibly be considered provocation. The 10,000 Lebanese prisoners held and the 14,000 killed by Israel during their previously illegal invasion and occupation should be more than enough provocation to launch endless rockets at Israel. Go Hizbullah, Go.

People like Henri do not want to engage all they wish to do is inhibit the discourse by accusations and propaganda.

They do not even read the posts but jump to conclusions based upon their own prejudices.

Methinks it is more than an individual knee jerk reaction.

Yes OMG - you are right - I believe the 14,000 Lebanese killed in the previous illegal occupation of sovereign soil was a conservative low figure - but the 10,000 prisioners in the Israeli dungeons is actually being negotiated for as we speak - so although it's news to you - it's a fact with the Israeli government. Next time you want to be educated, to take in a class - take your blindfold off - you will see a whole new world. By the way - Israeli's latest murderous campaign has united all denominations and political entities behind the Hizbullah. I have Christian Lebanese friends who have been hiding out in the mountains for the past month. That's a normal practice of theirs during times of occupation. They are well to do upper middle class Lebanese Armenians who have always been against the Hizbullah but they are now 100 per cent behind them. The divide and conquer objective of the 2 rogue states - America and Israel - will not work this time out. Eventually the world's only Superpower and its proxy will be isolated and despised by the rest of the world and perhaps then its people can get a proper education, like yourself, without the blinkers on.

LOL, funny that the christian areas are still pretty much untouched, what mountains do you speak of? Why would they hide in the mountains when they can relax at home? I presume you meant the PLO occupation then as they were the only ones slaughtering christians in Lebanon, ohhh no wait the Syrians did as well...ohhh noooo wait....both those murderous freaks have been forced out of Lebanon

enough said

Prior to the Friday strikes, Hezbollah was accused of using Christian villages in southern Lebanon to shield its military operations against Israel. According to a report by Christian Solidarity International (CSI) on Tuesday, southern Lebanese Christian villages such as Ain Ebel, Rmeish, Alma Alshaab, and others are used by Hezbollah militants to launch missile attacks.

“Hezbollah is repeating the same pattern that it practiced against Israel in 1996,” said former South Lebanese Army commander, Col. Charbel Barkat, in the CSI report. “Hezbollah is hiding among civilian populations and launching attacks behind human shields.”

Hezbollah has been the ruling power in the south since Israel withdrew from Lebanon six years ago. According to CSI, Christians have suffered under Hezbollah rule, forced to pay taxes for basic government services, such as road repair, that are not provided. Contrarily, Shiite villages supportive of Hezbollah do not pay taxes and receive infrastructure development and new residential and business construction, reported CSI.

President of the World Maronite Union, Sami El-Khoury, said reports on Christian support for Hezbollah is misleading. “Contrary to Western press reports, indicating high percentages of Christian support for Hezbollah, 90 percent of Christians, 80 percent of Sunni and 40 percent of Shiites in Lebanon oppose Hezbollah,” he said.

“Hezbollah is the issue,” said the Rev. Dr. Keith Roderick, Washington representative of CSI and secretary general of the Coalition for the Defense of Human Rights. “A misrepresentation of the position of most Lebanese Christians is underway.”

No matter how you feel about it, the truth is:
* If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence.
* If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel."

No, if the Palestinians put down their weapons, the violence of occupation will continue indefinitely. If the Lebanese put down their weapons, the violence of invasion will always be a potential threat.
