The depiction by the Provisional IRA of murdered mother
Jean McConville as an informer is just another fig leaf to
cover a senior spy in their ranks, Republican Sinn Fein
said today.

Sean O’Neill, secretary of RSF in Limerick said that the
PIRA statement flies in the face of the investigation by
Nuala O’Loan, the police ombudsman who cleared the
woman of the unsubstantiated charges.

“A kangaroo court condemned this unfortunate mother to
death and she was executed and buried secretly in an
unmarked grave by the Provos,” said Mr. O’Neill.

“Who was responsible for murdering this innocent
woman? Were any of the now exposed Provo spies
involved in her execution?

“The PIRA statement is just like all the other lies
issued by them down the years. They said they
had no involvement in killing Garda Jerry McCabe,
they said they would not enter Leinster House, they
said they would not decommission.

“The Provo lies ring hollow and their latest ploy
to tarnish yet again an innocent woman must be
designed to protect the man who ordered her
execution. Will this man ever be brought to
justice? Will both governments plead that the
peace process is too valuable to risk by exposing
the man who ordered the murder of this poor woman.

“It would appear that she is being sacrificed in order
to keep a highly placed spy at work and this cynical
PIRA statement only reduces them to willing accomplices
to a vile and nasty murder.”

When is lris, IRIS?

Consider the following,

THE body styling itself 'Limerick Republican Information Service' is not connected with the Irish Republican Information Service (IRIS), 223 Parnell Street, Dublin 1, email saoirse@iol.ie and has not been authorised either by IRIS or by the body that sponsors IRIS, Republican Sinn Fein. Therefore it is totally unauthorised and should be regarded as such.

RSF Secretary Sean O’Neill and Sean O'Neill - lris.

RSF publicly do not recognise lris. Yet RSF Secretary Sean O’Neill issues a statement using lris.

Aren't they at the Provo's throats from retreating from the war. The war led to this and justification for actions like this. At least the Provo's want to move on while the RSF and their ilk want back to it.

RSF *were* the Provos at the time Jean McConville was killed. At least that's what they're always telling us. The current organisation known as the Provos was founded in 1986. Remember?

Pete, IRIS is the Irish Republican Information Service. lris (in lower case so that the L is intentionally indistinguishable from a capital i) is Limerick.

I have a suspicion that this was not posted by Sean O'Neill, but rather someone interested in the division of the Republican Movement.

The IRIS/LRIS issue is old news, yet some continue to attempt to use it in attempt to disrupt. Granted this could just be cynicism on my part, but why would Sean O'Neill, or anyother person post a press release and also post a picture of themself, holding a disc featuring a picture of themself?!?

If I were a betting man, I'd put my money that this post was made by someone who is a former RM member/supporter with a personal agenda.
