If the Government isn't going to label the Huntingdon train attack as 'terrorism', it should at least change the law so mass casualty attacks are designated as more serious crimes than murder, argues Anna Stanley.

copyright on a copyleft site for photos regarding the European Social Forum, all a bit contradictory really, whats taht quote again, oh yeah , 'you have to be the change you wish to see in the world'. Thanks for the photos, i have copied and pasted them to other sites, copyleft, ahem

Think Paula explained here before that she has no problem with people using her photos as long as they credit her with them. Problem is some people copy and paste them into other sites, into newspapers, even into mainstream papers/magazines WITHOUT crediting (or in the case of mainstream papers, paying!) the photographer. One of the few ways of forcing people to credit work is to assert copyright. It's a shame as copyleft is the way it should be in an ideal world - so...did you credit Paula when you copied and pasted???

Just read the document ' A story to add to PG's pics' in the Indymedia Newswire. Great.

First off is reading what the definition of copyleft actually is:
http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/

The second is realising that PaulaG tends to make her photos available for free to other free sources and to ask for money from non-free sources.

The exact same thing is done by many succesful companies with GPL'ed software e.g. MySQL AB makes one completely Free version (e.g. copylefted) and another version which costs lots of $$$$$. If you want to sell MySQL or Paula's photos to other people then you've got to buy them from the people that respectively created them.

Of course it would be funny if Paula published some particularly tantalising ones without any statement on them. Then, as everything on the site is copyleft unless otherwise stated, if someone published in a for-profit newspaper, website or whatever they'd be legally obliged to distribute that newspaper for free or else face being mulcted for damages.

Thanks for the photos Paula, they're great.
