Dismissing the rape gang scandal as a "dog whistle" isn't just tone-deaf ? it's a vile insult to victims and exposes a government more afraid of losing votes than of protecting children, says Henry Hill in the Telegraph.

Ireland's first cannabis reform organisation launched

category national | rights, freedoms and repression | press release author Monday March 20, 2006 20:58author by Kiel Cathersauthor email ccprireland at hotmail dot com Report this post to the editors

Ireland's first cannabis policy reform organisation, the Centre for Cannabis Policy Reform Ireland (CCPR) launched their website and campaign this week. The group, in close association with the Colorado-based Safer Alternative For Alternative Recreation (SAFER), who successfully campaigned to legalise the possession of less than an ounce of cannabis, aim to educate the public about the fact that cannabis is safer than alcohol, that prohibition is a failure, and that a system of regulation must be put in place.

The organisation's director Kiel Cathers said, "We want to deliver the message, as acknowledged by the mainstream medical and scientific opinion on the matter, that cannabis is safer than alcohol both in its effects on the individual and the community, and that alternatives to prohibition must be explored if we are to solve the drug problem"
The campaign will be defined by the government proposal, the Cannabis-alcohol Equalisation Initiative, which will be revealed to the government and law enforcement authorities in a series of publicity events over the coming months, culminating on May 6 for the Global Marijuana March 2006, Dublin and Cork being two of the 188 cities taking part (see www.jday.blogspot.com for more information). The CCPR are on the lookout for volunteers and members in order to reach their goal. For more information, visit their website below or e-mail ccprireland@hotmail.com.

I agree with the Marijuana march. In fact, I think that the only way to get anywhere in getting marijuana legalized is to have more demonstrations.

it would make much more sense for it to be decriminalised because its causing more problems being illegal then if it were legal, gang wars, shit grade weed with glass and all sorts of chemicals addes etc.
it can also be used as plstic, fuel insualation medicine and much more
please Mr. Cowen.....do the right thing legalise!
