Sunday February 26, 2006 22:25 by Marcus Armstrong - Faslane 365 peace_marcus at yahoo dot co dot uk The Well, Newport Road, Willen MK15 9AA UK +44 1908 393572 / +44 7967 819514

Faslane 365 is a non-violent civil resistance project aimed at disarming the UK’s Trident nuclear weapons. We hope to achieve this through ongoing campaigning and a peaceful year-long blockade of the Faslane naval base in Scotland where the Trident submarines are berthed.
The next year or two will be a critical time for the disarmament of Britain's nuclear weapons. Although the government seems determined to replace the current system (which still has many years to run) at a cost of more than £40 billion, there is at least the possibility of some public debate. Faslane 365 is a golden opportunity to put serious pressure on our elected representatives.
We are inviting groups and individuals from a wide range of public interest organisations to participate to a level that is appropriate and safe for them. Faslane 365 is also a valuable chance for groups to raise awareness about their own issues, make links with other groups and find out how the UK’s nuclear weapons system affects them.
The campaign strives to be fully inclusive. There is a role for everyone according to their circumstances and ability – from signing a statement of support, to letter writing, fund-raising and supporting from home, to blockading the nuclear base in Scotland.
We would very much like to visit you, meet with your group or people in your area to explain more about Faslane 365, discuss the campaign and answer any questions. We have found that many creative possibilities for working together emerge from such a joint exploration.
Marcus Armstrong will be in Ireland from Monday 27th March to Monday 10th April.
