CINDY SHEEHAN TAKES PROTEST AGAINST IRAQ WAR TO DAIL TODAY BEFORE
MEETING WITH DERMOT AHERN, MMINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS.

Cindy Sheehan, the mother of Casey, a young US soldier killed in Iraq
will today take he protest against the occupation of Iraq to Dail
Eireann, where she will call on the Irish government to halt the use
of Shannon airport by the US Military.
Cindy, who has been brought to Ireland by the Irish Anti-War Movement
will take part in a press conference near Dail Eireann and photocall
outside the Dail before going in to meet Minister for Foreign
Affairs, Dermot Ahern for a private meeting.
The Irish Anti-War Movement contacted both the Minister and the
Taoiseach last week on Cindy’s behalf to request a meeting. The
Taoiseach was unavailable to meet Cindy because of his schedule but
Dermot Ahern’s office confirmed with the IAWM yesterday morning that
he would meet Cindy today.
Cindy will be joined at the press conference and photocall today by
Rose Gentle, mother of a young British soldier, Gordon Gentle who was
also killed in the US/UK invasion of Iraq.

Press Conference – 2pm Buswell’s Hotel, Molesworth St Dublin
Speakers: Cindy Sheehan, Rose Gentle (Mother of British soldier
killed in Iraq), Tahrir Swift (Iraqi & Arab Media Watch). The press
conference will be chaired by Richard Boyd Barrett (Chairperson,
Irish Anti-War Movement.

The Public meeting will also announce details of the plans agreed for
a major international campaign against occupation of Iraq agreed at
the International Peace Conference in London hosted by the Stop the
War Coalition (Britain) at the weekend.
A delegation from the Irish Anti-War Movement attended the conference
addressed by leading figures and organisations in the movement
against the occupation of Iraq in Iraq, the US, Britain and across
the world.
