The M3 in the Tara Gabhra Valley is another symptom of the Rip off Republic

category meath | environment | news report author Wednesday August 31, 2005 21:39author by spokesman - Tara SOS - M3 to the Westauthor phone +353863213755 Report this post to the editors

3.5km of unnessessary extra cost

There is another M3 Route available which does not pass through the Tara valley. It is up to 3.5km shorter, could pass Tara 5km away, and be €50m cheaper than the current route. It also offers the possibility of linking Trim to the M3.
Note the massive bevy through Tara in the M3 adding millions to the cost of the M3

There is another M3 Route available which does not pass through the Tara valley. It is up to 3.5km shorter, could pass Tara 5km away, and be €50m cheaper than the current route. It also offers the possibility of linking Trim to the M3.

The Tara Valley is currently being excavated to facilitate the M3's construction. The plans include a 28 acre interchange in the Tara Valley which will be visible from the Hill.

Our aim is to have the M3 rerouted to the west of Tara, and embedded in the landscape, a cheaper, shorter and more cost-effective option.

Both Meath AND Ireland need Infrastructure but we need our Heritage too.

Check out some of the Tales of Tara (Cú Chulainn, Lugh and the Tuatha Dé Danann, Na Fianna 7 High King Cormac Mac Art)under the FILES section, and photos of the works in the photos section on this site.

Tara is already in a pitiful state through neglect, unlike other site such as Brú na Boinne (Newgrange) and the Céide Fields in Mayo. The visitor centre lacks even public toilet facilities, a printed notice refering those in need to the private café around the corner. The lore of Tara, our ancient capital, Seat of the Árd Rí seems forgotten, abandoned by modern Ireland. The current route of the M3 is just the latest insult to the once glorious past at which Tara was at the centre of.

Please take time to look at the route maps listed below and the photographs on this site. Thank you.

Join us this weekend and help to educate people as to the history and importance of Tara.
