festival of world cultures free films, talks, exhibitions

Artists and activists worldwide have used art in innovative ways to campaign for political change or social justice. Through performances, talks and images this exhibition draws together examples from many countries, from the music of Chile to street art in Brooklyn. It offers insights into the global response to the Iraq War, the iconic image of Che Guevara and political campaigning in Ireland. Curated by Comhlámh - Campaigning Artists Group and Le Chéile - Artists in Ireland against Racism. For further information please call 01- 4783490

if your not already familiar with this tool for change check it out, it rocks

and in response to the quesion above id answer that art (in the fullest sense of what it really is and not just the product consumed in galleries) is the only thing which can and is changing the world

like that quote from Margaret Mead
http://www.epa.gov/Region2/library/quotes.htm
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

the CIRCA clowns put it very well, in relation to PLAY :

"It's when we do this foolish, time-consuming, romantic, quixotic, childlike thing called PLAY that we are most practical, most uselful, and most firmly grounded in reality, because the world itself is the most unlikely of places, and it works in the oddest of ways, and we won't make any sense of it by doing what everybody else has done before us. It's when we fool about with the stuff the world is made of that we make the most valuable discoveries, we create the most lasting beauty, we discover the most profound truths."
