A month after the arrival of Scotland's Hate Crime Act and it appears reports of the demise of the Scottish Enlightenment may have been premature, no thanks to the SNP but due to the doughty spirit of the Scots.

Should governments be able to censor online content for the entire world? That's what Australia is claiming the right to do. But do they really think China and Russia should be able to choose what the world sees?

Gaeil Bhéal Feirste in éadan Chinedheighilt Iosraeil

category antrim | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Tuesday August 09, 2005 17:19author by Ciarán Ó Brolcháin - Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign Report this post to the editors

Léirsiú taobh amugh den Chultúrlann

Tháining grúpa mór Gaeilgeoírí le chéile in Iarthar Bhéal Feirste ag léirsiú faoi acadamhaí Iosrael a bhí ag labhairt faoin Eabhrais ann.
s2400004.jpg

Tháinig thart fá 100 duine le chéile Dé Domhnaigh le hagóid a dhéanamh in éadan acadamhaí Iosraelaigh a tháining go Béal Feirste Thiar le labhairt ar "athbheochan" na hEabhraise in Iosrael agus pé ceachta a bheadh ann don Ghaeilge.

Bhí muid ansin cionn is go raibh muid ag tacaíocht leis an bhaghcat idirnáisiúnta ar Iosrael, agus ag an am céanna ní raibh muid sásta go raibh daoine éagsúla ag iarraidh nasc a dhéanamh idir an Ghaeilge agus an Eabhrais.

Is teanga choilíneach í an Eabhrais agus tá an mhaireachtáil s'aici ag bráth ar pholasaí chinedheighilte Iosraeil agus an cos ar bolg atá na hIosraelaigh ag déanamh ar an Palaistínigh.

Lá breá a bhí ann, agus bhí lúcháir orainn roimh an slua mór a tháining amach i ndlúthphairtíocht leis an chúis seo. Bhí níos mó daoine taobh amuigh ag léirsiú ná a raibh taobh istigh ag an léacht!
