Jump To Comment: 1 2So she e-mailed 12,000 students using a publicly available mailing list? So what? How is this Spam, any more than Fianna Fail putting election manifestos into your letter box? As a Trinity graudate, I regularly receive unsolicited e-mail, newsletters and electronic Xmas cards (I kid you not) from TCD's Senators....
Unless the users of the e-mail system signed a privacy protection clause saying they didn't want e-mail from other users of the system, she has a good case to sue the arses off the TCDSU and the College.
Let me guess this right - if she had individually typed in each e-mail address, nothing would have been done....
I served on the Electoral Commission in Trinity one year. Looks like they're still an unaccountable shower of zealots who like to run around with walkie-talkies on election day, full of their own self-importance. They should be accountable to the SU Assembly, not TCDSU Council....
