It's not CO2 that drives the climate, says astrophysicist Dr Henrik Svensmark. Its the Sun and cosmic rays. But you won't hear about this because only one viewpoint is now allowed in the pseudo-science of climate.

Public talk given by 2 Israeli soldiers, who have refused to serve in Occupied Palestine and have suffered prison terms as a consequence.

The Public meeting is open to everyone and will take place this Thursday 21st Oct in Room 3074 (Arts Block) at 7pm.

TCD One World Society and TCD Socialist Workers Student Society in collaboration with IPSC are co-hosting a public talk given by 2 Israeli soldiers, who have refused to serve in Occupied Palestine and have suffered prison terms as a consequence. There are hundreds of Israeli 'Refusenik' soldiers who because of their stance have been punished and imprisoned by the Israeli army.

The Public meeting is open to everyone and will take place this Thursday 21st Oct in Room 3074 (Arts Block) at 7pm.
This is a unique opportunity to hear from an Israeli perspective why some have taken such measures to oppose the Occupation.

These two young Israelis, during their short visit to Ireland, will speak about how 'Refuseniks' are opposing the occupation of Palestinian lands.

As a result of their actions Matan Kaminer and Adam Maor were court martialled and sentenced to long terms of imprisonment. Matan Kaminer has served a total of 646 days and Adam Maor a total of 553 days. They have recently been released from prison and have now been discharged from the Israeli army.

These refuseniks or conscientious objectors are part of a growing movement of Israelis who are standing alongside Palestinians in a non-violent struggle against the Occupation, the Separation Wall and the demolition of Palestinian homes and farmland.

In his testimony to the court, Matan Kaminer said: ‘Terror affects our lives in every possible domain and causes the deterioration of Israeli society. The continuation and maintenance of the Occupation are the continuation and maintenance of terror. Time and again I have been deceived by Israeli leaders who promised us peace and did not keep their word.'

Adam Maor said: 'The right of every Palestinian, as a human being, to democracy, is violated daily by Israeli military rule. The more brutal and oppressive an occupation becomes, the more resistance it will meet. Occupation turns people into things. Occupation is fertile soil for atrocity.'

This event is jointly hosted by TCD One World Society and TCD Socialist Workers Student Society (SWSS), in collaboration with IPSC.

Correction: The 2 Israeli Refuseniks who will be speaking in Trinity college this Thursday 21st Oct in Room 3074, (Arts Block) at 7pm, were imprisoned because they refused to join the Israeli Army, and were not soldiers. However many of their refusenik colleagues were or are still soldiers who were in the Israeli Army and who are currently in Prison or have been imprisoned because they refused to serve in Illegally occupied Palestine. Some were also in the Israeli Air force.
