offsite link Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

World Kindness Day may have passed you by. But it won't have passed by your children, whose school will have been sure to teach that climate action and open borders are essential elements of 'kindness', says Steven Tucker.

Read what happened when an Extinction Rebellion meeting was disrupted by a protester. Seems they can give it out but have no intention of putting up with it themselves.

Supreme Court Says No to Vanunu

category international | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Tuesday July 27, 2004 02:16author by Justin Morahan - Peace People Report this post to the editors

Disappointment and anger at judgement

The Israeli Supreme Court has rejected a plea by Mordechai Vanunu to lift the sanctions imposed on him by the Israeli State.

The US Campaign to Free Mordechai Vanunu has confirmed today that The Supreme Court of Israel in a reserved judgment, rejected a plea by Mordechai Vanunu to have sanctions against him lifted.
The judgement was published on Monday 26 July.
The result of the judgement is that, although supposedly free after his eighteen years in prison, Mordechai Vanunu, among other things, cannot leave Israel and is forbidden to speak to foreigners with impunity.
The reason given for the continued sanctions against him - unbelievaby - is that he still possesses secrets that may harm Israel.
The case was taken on his behalf by the Association of Civil Rights of Israel. His lawyers have expressed disappointment as has Mordechai himself.

The fight to free Mordechai must therefore continue.

I will be making a personal protest outside the Israeli Embassy in Dublin on Tuesday 27 July around 11 a.m.

I protested outside the Embassy from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A garda prevented me from entering the building to let them know what I was about, instead took my name and address at the booth outside.
I carried a sign that said;
"BURIED ALIVE" FOR 18 YEARS
BUT ISREAEL WONT LET VANUNU GO.
There was good positve reaction - 24 in all gave the thumbs up, supportive honk or verbal support.
An English couple who lived east of Tel Aviv for 2 years expressed surprise that Israel still insists Vanunu has got secrets to damage them.
Caoimhe's protest and earlier ones for Vanunu's release were remembered by some of those I spoke to.
An Embassy official walked in a large circle around me observing reactions almost for the duration of the picket.

Further protests will take place until Mordechai Vanunu regains full freedom.

All are welcome to join in them. They will be non-violent as usual
