offsite link Taxpayers Are Charged for the BBC Whether They Like it or Not Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:00 | Charlotte Gill
It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

World Kindness Day may have passed you by. But it won't have passed by your children, whose school will have been sure to teach that climate action and open borders are essential elements of 'kindness', says Steven Tucker.

Bikes against Bush - Tuesday Update

category national | anti-war / imperialism | news report author Tuesday June 22, 2004 14:13author by Dermot via Ray Report this post to the editors

From Roscrea to Banna, Cloghjordan, and Nenagh

Arrived in Stradballey for lunch yesterday, had a lovely lunch by the fountain.
Cycled on to Aghaboe in Laois, stayed in a hostel. Already famous (to the people in the hostel) because of interview on Midlands radio yesterday, which said we were a friendly bunch.
Went into a local pub to watch the match and had a round bought for us by the locals.
Cycling through constant rain this morning, finally arrived in Roscrea but morale is still up because Finn had some cake and everyone is out of their wet gear, plus everyone in the pub knows them, again from the interview.
Jim Fahey and camera crew from RTE trying to catch up with the protest, probably some coverage in the next day or two. The cycle was also picked up by the Examiner.
Hoping to get some photos uploaded tonight at the hostel, and maybe a copy of the statement from Baldonnell.
Staying tonight in Nenagh, and tomorrow off to a secret destination in Limerick.

Well they've skirted county Offaly by choosing the southward route from Stradballey to Roscrea, where now they will continue through the north riding of county Tipperary.

They have thus crossed their second great frontier in two days.

The rothar-bi-revolutionaries are now well over the Pale and a fair bit into the province of Munster.

Roscrea- nothing. nothing at all. part from a castle, nothing has happened in Roscrea since 498ad. when an ageing Saint Patrick too a wrong turning looking for wells.

Banna - even less than nothing, Banna inspired H.P. Lovecraft to write most of his horror, on the basis of a postcard view alone.

cloughjordan-
Located close to the River Shannon and Lough Derg, Cloughjordan is home to Charlie Swan's Equestrian Centre. Charlie Swan is a multiple National Hunt Champion jockey. Cloughjordan is the birthplace of Thomas Mac Donagh, poet and patriot who born in 1878 who was one of the signatories of the 1916 Proclamation. He was executed in 1916 and the local library bears his name. There are three churches in Cloughjordan eg: St. Michael痴 Catholic Church, 1898, St. Kiernan痴 Church of Ireland Church, 1830, and the Methodist Church. Adjacent to the village is an impressive GAA park and grounds.
very ecumenical.

Nenagh-
oh well, Nenagh is such a great place, they named it twice. Nenagh (Aonach Urmhumhan in Irish) is the administrative capital of North Tipperary with a population of around 6,000 people. It is a most accessible town as it is served by the N7 travelling south from Dublin and north from Limerick, 100 miles and 25 miles away respectively. Conscious of its central location, Nenagh has striven to accommodate passing visitors and encourage overnight stays. Consequently the town has a wide range of popular places to stay and eat in.
Not a one ever gets to leave unchanged.

- get out of there quickly rothar revolutionaries!
