There's method in Trump's tariff madness, says Ramesh Thakur. Uniting his America First, anti-Net Zero and anti-DEI policies is an imperative to untangle the US from strategic dependence on an ascendant China.

Vote Anti-War Candidates in the elections

category dublin | anti-war / imperialism | press release author Friday June 04, 2004 13:41author by IRISHANTIWARMOVEMENT - IRISHANTIWARMOVEMENT Report this post to the editors

Richard Boyd Barrett, Chair of the IAWM said; “In an attempt to stop anti-war protests and other political events City Council officials in Dublin and across the country have implemented a ban on postering. Richard Boyd Barrett, Chair of the IAWM said; “In an attempt to stop anti-war protests and other political events City Council officials in Dublin and across the country have implemented a ban on postering. The Irish Anti War Movement along with other groups organising the STOP BUSH demonstrations on June 25th and 26th believe the ban on postering is an infringement of civil rights. It is part of a wider clamp down on civil rights in the war on terror. The STOP BUSH CAMPAIGN has registered as a third party in the upcoming elections. It is the first ever organisation to do so. This was done in order to get around the ban. We call on public officials in Dublin city and across the country to accept that STOP BUSH CAMPAIGN POSTERS are legal and therefore cannot be taken down.

We are printing 10,000 stickers which read ‘Vote Anti-War’ for parties such as Labour, Sinn Fein, Green Party, Socialist Workers Party and Socialist Party’. These will be placed on posters that advertise the STOP BUSH demonstrations. This makes the posters election material and therefore cannot be taken down.

We believe that the elections should be a referendum on the government's policy on Iraq. The Irish government is currently allowing US military through Shannon and the Irish government is actively supporting the on-going illegal and bloody occupation of Iraq. We call on the public to only give their votes to anti-war candidates who oppose the use of Shannon in the upcoming elections. Many candidates have been giving information advertising the demonstrations against Bush along with their election material. The response suggests that the demonstrations against Bush will be huge and that the current government policy is against the wishes of the majority of Irish people”

Details of the demonstrations

June 25th 7pm Parnell Sq, Dublin
Regional protests at 7pm in Waterford, Tralee, Sligo and Galway
June 26th 10am Dromoland Castle, Co Clare

Anti War Concert with Christy Moore, Damian Rice, Kila and more ..June 19th the Point Theatre

Why should I vote for the Labour Party who would SUPPORT the war if it was backed by the United Nations. All that means is that the occupiers of Iraq should be wearing blue helmets when they shoot and kill the Iraqi people. It's ok if the soldiers are wearing blue caps as they facilitate Iraqi oil being taken by the USA. Why should I vote for the Labour Party when their counterparts in Europe were involved in the War. Remember we're electing a European parliament- why back PES when BLair has bombed and killed thousands. Rabbitte even said that Blair was a 'calming influence' on Bush!

I will be voting for an anti war candidate in these elections. Joe Higgins is the only candidate in the Dublin Euro elections that calls for people to attend anti-Bush demos in his manifesto. Joe's got my number 1 vote. Patricia McKenna has my Number 2 as she is on the left of the Greens and is genuinely against the war. After that I'm giving my 3rd preference to Brendan Price (ind) and not giving a 4th.

I also find it rich to be saying Sinn Fein are anti-war. They have been involved in bloody sectarian conflict for over 30 years. Thier military wing killed people because of their religion. IRA didn't just target the British military. They killed protestants and they bombed working class disctricts of Britain. NO WAY will I ever vote or give any kind of preference to that scum.

And the SP called the British Army workers in uniform. So those armed paras who shot down punarmed protesters on Bloody Sunday are workers. But the IRA volunteers who killed armed Paras at Warrenpoint are terrorists. Typical SP hypocrisy.

Just heard a party broadcast by Sinn Fein. They are against the European Super State with it's own military. Maybe they should look into the mirror and see a Party with it's own military. I agree with previous poster, SF have bombed British towns and have killed Protestants. SF are all about a catholic state which will oppress any dissidents from their one state, one leader, one people regime.

And of course its no coincidence that two of three people named above (RBB and Sinead Ni Broin) are running in the elections - and both need every vote they can cadge from people. This is self-serving tomfoolery by careerist politician wannabes.
