offsite link Thank Lockdowns for the Worst Budget in History Sat Nov 22, 2025 13:00 | Will Jones
We're a week away from the most painful Budget in history thanks largely to the eye-watering cost of lockdown. Yet Baroness Hallett says next time the Government must be ready to go harder and faster. This is insanity.

It's bad enough that all UK TV users are forced to fund the BBC via a TV licence. But it's worse than that, says Charlotte Gill: millions of pounds of taxpayers' money are handed to the corporation via backdoor channels.

The Crown Prosecution Service is appealing against the acquittal of Hamit Coskun, who was convicted of burning the Quran in a protest, reigniting fears Britain could introduce blasphemy laws by the back door.

World Kindness Day may have passed you by. But it won't have passed by your children, whose school will have been sure to teach that climate action and open borders are essential elements of 'kindness', says Steven Tucker.

Reclaim The Campus

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Thursday April 15, 2004 18:03author by VenusInFurs - UCDauthor email dropenotbombs at hotmail dot com Report this post to the editors

Forget the exam factory for a few hours, bring friends, cans, music, entertainment, games and erm, imagination!

Its the last day of term y'all, and the citizens of UCD are getting ready to reclaim our campus and public space from the grubby hands of the college authorities, their pals in the private sector and the campus cops.

This is our campus, as we made known when Mata Harney, Mad Dog McDowell and their thugs in uniform graced with their presence during the year, and the free party tommorrow further reinforces that.

So forget the exam factory for a few hours, bring friends, cans, music, entertainment, games and imagination. There's gonna be lots of boppin' and poppin', with music ranging from Mr.Scruff, Aphex Twin and Plaid to Jurassic 5, New Order and Roni Size. See ya on the flip side!

...we're gonna have conor preaching from a soapbox about the genius and relevance of Guy Debord so we can all point and laugh at him!

Pat Paterson will be present at the Reclaim the Campus event.

It's the time to tell Caroline Hussey where to shove her "Alcohol Policy" and a chance to say good-bye to our friends in the Campus Cops who had a busy year closing down half of Belfield for McDowell a few times this year.

Woo hoo! Reclaim The Campus was a resounding success thanks to all of those who shaked their ass and participated in the action. Reaching about 100 at its peak, UCD students gave the proverbial two fingers to the college authorities who over the past few years have employed private security to forcibly disperse students from drinking, socialising and protesting on OUR campus.

I couldn't be arsed writing a full report on the occasion cos time doesn't afford it and i'm too wrecked, so hopefully someone else who was present can. Get those photos up too of the party, banners and flags. Cheers Reddy and Cormac for devising and organising the action, and to my comrade Fin i say HA! Your cynicism only spurred me further to make it actually happen :-) It was so fucking crazy, it had to and did work!

Must say it was one of best nights in UCD by a long shot! Well done to everyone who organised and participated.
