Don't be fooled by the 'Britain is growing' fairytales, says David Craig. Any 'growth' is accounted for by the hike in the benefits bill and in civil servants' pay and a heap of other unproductive deficit spending.

A march on the massive us base of Sigonella outside catania in Sicily is being planned to coincide with this protest. It isn't definite yet but looks likely.

Unfortunately some womens' groups have already organised events for the 8th and it gives very little time to organise buses and all. Especially since we are all going on 1st march.
This would have been possible if we would have known it before and prepare a serie of events at Shannon airport.
I guess it is pretty easy for women living in Galway and Limerick but for Belfast and Dublin, this is almost impossible to mobilise for that date.
A very good idea though.
I also would like to know if you have a leaflet made for women working in Shannon airport. If you do, we would like to get a copy.

In solidarity

thanks for your comment Kitty, we sent the Women's Commission the info before
and have been advertising this for a few months now, sorry you didn't see it
and can't join us. Women and men are coming from Derry to Shannon for the 8th
March and we'd be very happy to have a statement of support from women in
Belfast. We are also asking those women's groups who are having their own
events to highlight the demands of the strike and particularly the demand for
the military budget to be given back to us women for our caring work. This is
not just 'another issue/another women's group', this is the demand that
unifies us from the bottom up, because it is the demand that grassroots women
of colour, at the very bottom of the hierarchy of wages the world over, are
making. We are making it with them at Shannon on the 8th but other women's
events can also make the struggle of these women visible and make their demand
heard. If you send us on your email address, we will send you any leaflets
you want to see but we'll be at Shannon on the 1st too. Email me on:
