Thirty Left-wing MPs have written to Ofcom to press it to censor X under the Online Safety Act. The evidence of 'hate' on the platform is threadbare, but it's obvious why they want to clip its wings, says Laurie Wastell.

tick tock, time bomb times running out

Loud clothes and colourful noises, Information and interaction, A meeting of peoples For new beginnings”

Gluaiseacht and the Shutdown Sellafield campaign are staging a street
theatre and information carnival event in Barrow-on-Furness on the
afternoon of Saturday 7th of September 2002.

“Roll up, Roll up, fun and a future for all your families.
Loud clothes and colourful noises,
Information and interaction,
A meeting of peoples
For new beginnings”

A colourful and noisy carnival of fools will endeavour to undo years of
spin from BNFL by engaging with the people of west Cumbria to work
together towards a nuclear free future.

This event is taking place in the run-up to the arrival of the MOX
shipment from Japan. Our purpose is to meet with those people who are
directly dependent on and affected by Sellafield. We want to impress
upon them that our call for the facility to ‘shut down’ is not intended
to be an attack on their economic and social well being.

It is rather a call for an end to the import of foreign nuclear waste
and a beginning to the decontamination of Cumbria and the Irish Sea
following decades of irresponsible management and deliberate dumping of
lethal radio toxins into the environment.

For further details, press contacts and to request photographic images
of the event please contact: + 353 86 361 5931 or

previous demonstrations at the Sellafield plant over the last year. The
