Dance in the sun, while showing your support for diversity

Diversity Day is coming to Bishop Lucey Park this Sunday.

Hundreds of people will be descending on Bishop Lucey Park, Cork this Sunday for a celebration of diversity.
'Diversity Day' will by accompanied by all-day kicking tunes, Reggae, Afro-Caribbean, essential rhythms for young and old, all from a heavy duty sound system,
Celebrate the diversity of communities in Cork, including refugees and asylum seekers, Irish Travellers, people with disabilities, lesbians and gay men.
Show your support for ecological and linguistic diversity by visiting the various stalls.
You can also try Tai Chi, Circus skills and belly dancing at some of the many workshops.
This festival follows in the footsteps of the 'Children of the Earth' Festival from 2 years ago. It will be set up as a hostility-free zone, promoting a sense of solidarity.
The festival is organised by the Diversity Day Planning Group, in association with Comhlamh, Cairde, TVG, One World Society UCC, NASC, LINC and Cork Council of Trade Unions

its good but ironic to see diversity celebrated in "bishop lucey" park. the park was donated to the city of cork by the church of ireland.

to show their appreciation for this gift the good burghers of cork named the park after a fundamentalist roman catholic bishop: cornelius lucey. (connie lingus as he was fondly known to some)

only in cork could you get such ignorance, spite & petty-mindedness. (well maybe on ravensdale rd, shankill rd, rathcoole, waterside, portadown)

hmmm, how about 101 reasons why i hate cork?

(before any leesiders rush to the defence, let me point out that i spent 18 years in that parochial town)

Some people love the place, some people can't stand the place. I'm sure that goes for most towns and cities. That is pretty much irrelevant to what's going on on Sunday which is a celebration of diversity in many forms.

Bishop Lucey Park as its officially known is also known to the good or otherwise people of Cork as 'De Peace Park'.

I take it you're not coming Pat but thanks for your helpful comment in any case.

Kommy: Get away ye langer! Had you not heard that Roy Keane has replaced the Body of Christ parade as the big puller? 5000 people came out and showed their solidarity with Corks most (in)famous (depends on yer perspective) Mayfield boy at the time of the world cup spat.
Jesus'd be turning in his grave if he stayed there!

Ahem, I thought we were discussing Diversity Day. This event is an opportunity for EVERYBODY (football fans and others) to balm out in the park listening to choons for a good cause. P.S. Revelation Sound will be there all day long with the bass pumping. C U there! (I'll be the one in the People's Republic of Cork T-shirt)
