revolutionary truth against reactionary lies

category national | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Thursday May 22, 2014 22:16author by Deborah - Vegan Information Project Report this post to the editors

an independent media workshop - part two

workshop to examine issues we began exploring last week in 'disabling the propaganda machine'. topics: mass media as social control & the relationship of social justice activists to the mass media in terms of our own experiences.

this workshop at the outhouse, 105 capel st, dublin, will examine in depth the issues we began exploring last week in 'disabling the propaganda machine'. we will discuss topics such as mass media as social control & the relationship of social justice activists to the mass media in terms of our own experiences, before (hopefully!) moving on to talk about the radical feminist an anarchist traditions of developing independent communication networks.

our case study for this in particular will be the riot grrrl punk rock movement and the outspoken, proudly confrontational voices of the women involved in contrast to insipid mass media coverage of social movement activity.

there will, as always, be practical activities to help us explore these issues together, and space for sharing perspectives and personal stories of revolutionary independent media activity, in a respectful and creative atmosphere.

thanx from the facilitator to her fellow revolutionaries who make these workshops possible!

sugar-free cakes, pistachio nuts, and a range of teas will be available, free of charge as usual, from the VIP ‘tea station’.

7-9pm
