It's not CO2 that drives the climate, says astrophysicist Dr Henrik Svensmark. Its the Sun and cosmic rays. But you won't hear about this because only one viewpoint is now allowed in the pseudo-science of climate.

On the 15th October 2011 the Ireland Institute on Pearse Street played host to the second annual Raymond Crotty lecture, which was sponsored by the People’s Movement. The topic of this year’s lecture was Rancher and Banking interests in the modern Irish Economy and was delivered by Conor McCabe. McCabe’s recent book, Sins of the Father, is an examination of the Irish economy from the Anglo – Irish Treaty up to the present day. http://www.theirishstory.com/2011/10/21/review-conor-mc...ITBIH

Looks like a better examination than the vultures flock wheeling round the issue on my Sunday radio for their pickings.

McCabe is right, but the debates on the Home Rule Bill in 1912-14 show that even the proposed Home Ruled Ireland was going to be poorer as a result. The Brits sweetened it by offering to make up any deficits for the first 6 years. After 1919 you can add in the costs of sovereignty (embassies, armies) and the independence and civil wars, and the exodus of thousands of richer types, and you had a recipe for poverty. We have a lot to think about on the run-up to the 1916 centenary.

“We make no apology for what has been done, and what we are doing in Dublin,” he said, amidst cheers. “They talk about Home Rule, but that will not solve the poverty problem, though it will help to give us the machinery which we shall have to use to get rid of this great sore in the body politic. (Cheers.) “We are out for the root remedy, but the people of Ireland have had their minds so concentrated upon the one issue of getting back their Parliament that you cannot get that one idea out of their heads. You cannot get it out of their heads after a century that Home Rule will bring them the millennium."

But that was a long term problem surely..ansentee landlordism...now its tax ex-isles offshore. Mobile capital preying on the island population and extracting its wealth. Now they live in virtual space, and they will syphon even the former loci of ops.
