In his Sixth Form Christmas quiz this year, none of Dave Summers's students could name the author of To Kill a Mockingbird ? previously one of the easy questions. Another sign that wokery is dissolving our culture.

If Christmas songs fall foul of Labour's 'banter ban', Christmas carols ? with their 'offensive' assertions of the divinity of Christ that are deemed blasphemous by Islam ? are even more likely to, says Julian Mann.

Keir Starmer is preparing to tie Britain to the EU's Net Zero plans in a move that would impose radically stricter 'green' energy targets on homes and businesses, leading to further deindustrialisation and impoverishment.

Dumping of sewage into rivers is supposed to happen only 'exceptionally'. But in Odell it occurred for over a third of the year. In Bedford it may be worse ? but the monitoring equipment is broken, says Mike Wells.

Release Brendan Lillis

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Sunday July 24, 2011 19:50author by Release Brendan Lillis Report this post to the editors

Brendan Lillis is a republican political prisoner currently being held captive in Maghaberry Gaol for taken part in PIRA activity back in the 70’s.

The initial robbery charges against Brendan that led to his licence being revoked in 2009 have since been withdrawn.

Brendan suffers from a condition known as “Ankylosing Spondylitis” and has been confined to bed for the past two years, and giving only a short time to live, he weighs just under 5 stone.

There is no reason what so ever as to why the British State should continue to hold this seriously ill man captive any longer.

Please come along and show your support for Brendan and demand his immediate release!

NOTE: The picket is on at 1pm at the 'Northern Ireland' tourist board office on suffolk street

Following on from the protests on Monday at the British embassy, tuesday at the "NI" tourist office suffolk street, and wednesday at the free state dept. of foreign affairs, Dublin Republicans will be keeping up the pressure again tomorrow at the "NI" tourist office. Given the near panic reaction of the wage-slaves in the "NI" tourist office on tuesday, it's clear that this location is an Achilles Heel in the Brit Normalization Process in Ireland. That being the case, we need every single Irish Republican in Dublin and it surrounds in Suffolk Street tomorrow. Brendan Lillis spent sixteen long years in an enemy consentration camp for your freedom and mine. He gave up the best part of his life. If you ask what is the difference between a colonial province, made up of mentally castrated "good natives," and a nation, the answer is very simple: men and women like Brendan Lillis. There is no excuse for standing idly by like slavish idiots while an Irish patriot dies in a Brit consentration camp. We need to drive home the message tomorrow: Republican Dublin will not stand idly by, as one of our comrades dies in a stinking Brit cell. However you get there, get there tomorrow, Thursday July 28 at one o'clock. Brendan and his family have very little time. Don't depend on others - take action yourself. Bígí linn amarach.

An independent protest for Bendan Lillis will take place on Tuesday, the 2nd of August between 1pm and 2pm outside the "Northern Ireland" tourist office on Suffolk St, Dublin (that's the old church in front of the post office.) We ask for all those available on the day to please turn up and show your support for Brendan.  Placards and leaflets will be available on the day. Go raibh maith agaibh.

i am struggling to understand why the republican movement is so behind mr lillis,

this mans republican beliefs have gone out the window, once he became a theif.

his continued imprisonment is wrong as he is so ill, an i will support him on those grounds alone

however i will never class mr lillis as a republican prisoner as his greed over took his republican beliefs.

support real republicans not thieves

John a chara, Brendan spent 16 years in a Brit consentration camp, while you were sitting comfortablely on your arse doing absolutely nothing.  When you have done something in the world - anything - then people might take you seriously.

Even in a cess pit like "northern ireland" the presumption of innocence still stands.  Brendan has not been accused in "court" (if you can call a Brit kangaroo court a "court") of any crime.

He is as innocent as you are.

Since you seem to have a crystal ball and know everything (you sure seem to know all about John and what he has and hasn't done) maybe you could give me the lotto numbers for Saturday night.

John

You make a valid point and if some people have a hard time listening to it then its just because it makes a mockery of the bullshit they try to dress up with ribbons and bows and sell as something else.

What John and Red Jed fail to understand is that this is a humanitarian campaign for the release of a dying man.  What some people may accuse him of is of no consequence.  Doubly so, given that these people have accused him of nothing in a court.
