Turkey is massacring Kurdish resistance fighters yet at the same time it is shedding crocodile tears over potential massacres in Aleppo. Its threat to invade Syria to deal with Kurds is a cover for a NATO invasion of Syria. Full text at link. On the eve of an expected major offensive in Aleppo by the Syrian regime, Turkey has threatened to invade Syria, using the pretext of Kurdish groups seizing control of northern border areas. Such a move could pitch Ankara directly into war against Syria, after it has long sought to dictate events through control of the opposition Syrian National Congress and Free Syrian Army. We strongly condemn Thursday’s massacre at Sirnak in which 36 civilian Kurds were killed by Turkish air strikes. This year more than 4,500 people have been arrested under nebulous “terrorism” charges in Turkey, including dozens of journalists last week. This AKP-directed pogram, known as the KCK Case, began in 2009 against any Kurdish dissent in Turkey. The people of Kurdistan in the frontier region of Iran, Turkey and Iraq have been under the Iranian artillery fire and the Turkish jet fighters’ attacks during the past month, on the pretext of fighting the armed forces of two organisations: PKK and Pejak. These bombardments were accompanied by cannons and artillery from the two bordering countries of Iraqi Kurdistan and military attacks on villages, as a result of which many people were killed, wounded, displaced and a great deal of casualties was caused. In just one day, on August 21st, seven civilians from a family, including a child, lost their lives as a result of the Turkish air raid. Kurdistan Regional Government’s authorities and the Kurdish media in Iraq stated that the inhabitants of 35 villages have been forced from their homes due to these attacks. read full story / add a comment

Over the years of war between Kurdish separatist guerrillas and the Turkish army and police, during the 1980s and 1990s, thousands of Kurds disappeared and were unaccounted for. Now their bodies are turning up in dozens of mass graves in the Kurdish region and in Turkey proper. In Mahabad anti-government protestors torched a truck belonging to the Revolutionary Guards, who opened fire, wounding at least four people. We are looking for help funding, campaigners, donations, time, leaflets anything possible to further the advance of Medical Cannabis. We aim to send material to every doctor ,every police station and every political official in the country until an adequate response is enforced. We want as any many signatures statements and opinions from these people to further help the campaign. The oppressive fascist Turkish regime attempted to eliminate the Kurdish population more than decades now. One has to look at the brief history of the Kurds to know what Turkish state has tried to do with the Kurds. In 1921 at Kocgiri; 1925 at Sex Sait; 1930 at Agri and Zilan by killing more than fifty thousand people. In 1938, at Dersim an estimated seventy thousand children and elderly men and women were killed. Since 1984, more than forty thousand people have lost their lives due to the Kurdish conflict in Turkey. Both Turkey and Iran have accused Israel of state terror against the activists on the high seas. From a Kurdish point of view I salute the brave peace activists and I sympathize with the situation of the Palestinian people in the face of oppression by the Israeli state. Yet we cannot forget that both Turkey and Iran continue to commit atrocities against the Kurdish population. read full story / add a comment

Yassamine Mather writes on the execution of the Kurdish militants in Iran, She provides historical background to the Kurdish struggle and makes clear that the Anti-Imperialist response to the judicial murder of Kurds should not be to call for the Iranian regime to be hauled before a tribunal for ‘crimes against humanity'. Four of the five political prisoners executed by the Islamic government in Iran in the early hours of Sunday May 9 came from Kurdistan and were accused of membership of the left nationalist group, the PJAK (an Iranian version of the PKK). The executed prisoners - Farzad Kamangar, Ali Heydarian, Farhad Vakili, Shirin Alamhouli and Mehdi Eslamian - all denied membership of “political organisations” and the PJAK issued a statement clarifying that none of those executed had any organisational links with it.
