Vigil For Peace At The US Embassy for Duration Of Bush Visit
Anti-war activists will hold an 18-hour overnight peace vigil at the US embassy in Ballsbridge, Dublin, for the duration of George W. Bush's stay in Ireland. The vigil will begin at 8.15pm on Friday night as Bush lands at Shannon airport. read full story / add a comment

Kathy Kelly spent the first Gulf War on the border of Kuwait and Iraq and the following six months in bombed out Iraq. On returning to the US she founded the sanctions busting Voices in the Wilderness. She spent the the 2003 US bombing campaign as a nonviolent witness in Iraq. She has come to Ireland on a number of occasions to speak at Afri events & support the Pit Stop Ploughshares.community. On Monday, November 3rd, the five catholic Workers, otherwise known as the 'Pitstop Ploughshares', are back in the Dublin Circuit Court for a pre-trial hearing. The five - Karen Fallon, Nuin Dunlop, Deirdre Clancy, Ciaron O'Reilly and Damien Moran - disarmed a US naval plane at Shannon Airport last February and are facing up to ten years in prison on charges of causing approximately 2.5 million Euros worth of damage to the plane. The five claim that they acted on the Hebrew Scriptural imperative to 'beat swords into ploughshares.' read full story / add a comment
