(CAIRO) Gaza Freedom Marchers yesterday, 1st January 2010, approved a declaration aimed at accelerating the global campaign for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israeli Apartheid. Roughly 1400 activists from 43 countries converged in Cairo on their way to Gaza to join with Palestinians marching to break Israel's illegal siege. They were prevented from entering Gaza by the Egyptian authorities. As a result, the Freedom Marchers remained in Cairo. They staged a series of nonviolent actions aimed at pressuring the international community to end the siege as one step in the larger struggle to secure justice for Palestinians throughout historic Palestine. The following declaration arose from those actions: read full story / add a comment

It was probably the most important anti-war action to happen in Ireland this century – and it was certainly the most daring. At Shannon Airport five people took on the might of the US military – and put a Navy war-plane out of action.. Even more amazingly, they ultimately convinced a jury that to do so was not a crime. But the story of the Shannon Five has hardly been told, until now. For the first time, a new book reveals the inside story of an intrepid act read full story / add a comment

We cry out for a church that speaks without fear of consequences, including loss of revenues. We understand that we live in a time of great fear and peril. We need to remind ourselves that we are not to fear those that can kill the body, but instead to fear those that can kill the soul. Our domestic and foreign policies have left us a nation without a soul. We call on our Church to be a prophetic voice, a sanctuary, and a source of encouragement to those who want to work together in community towards peace and justice. read full story / add a comment
