In recent days, on various media outlets, the General Secretary of the Civil, Public and services Union, Mr. Blair Horan, has spoken and been quoted in support of the lisbon Treaty. On RTE’s Morning Ireland programme on Tuesday, 6th May there was an item broadcast between General Secretary Designate of the TEEU, Mr. Eamon Devoy and Mr. Horan on the treaty where it was reported that the TEEU have called for a NO vote and the CPSU were cited as the union calling for a YES vote from its members. read full story / add a comment

The Connolly Youth Movement is appalled by the contents of a leaked email containing a confidential briefing by Daniel Mulhall, Director-General on the EU at the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs to a British diplomat Elizabeth Green. The CYM believes that this clearly shows the attitude of the Irish and EU establishment to the Irish people and the upcoming referendum. The confidential email shows that the Irish government is intent on pushing this Treaty through without the serious debate that the issue warrants. They want to confuse the Irish people, in the hope that by not understanding the ramifications of approving this treaty, they will vote yes. read full story / add a comment

This morning the European Court of Justice delivered a ruling in the so-called ”Rüffert-case”. The case concerns a conflict between the German land of Niedersachsen and the construction firm ”Objekt und Bauregie GmbH”. One of Ireland’s youngest councillor’s Johnny McGibbon has today signalled the beginning of a major recruitment drive for Sinn Féin. In keeping with the Valentine’s Day spirit, the 21 year old elected activist is urging a simple message, ‘If you love Ireland, Join Sinn Féin.’ His words came as Ógra Shinn Féin activists distributed thousands of ‘I ♥ Ireland’ stickers across Ireland today.
