Friday May 13, 2011 23:40 by Darren C - REVOLUTION - Socialist Youth Movement

8-12 August 2011
Politics is changing and changing fast. In the Arab world millions of people have had enough of dictatorship and are bravely transforming North Africa and the Middle East in revolutionary movements that have yet to be completed. Young people, using new media like Facebook and Twitter organised the first protests – in many countries soon followed by mass action and the might of the working class. In the wake of an economic crisis which shook the very infrastructure of capitalism, now mass movements across Europe are stating loud and clear that youth, workers, ordinary people refuse to pay the costs of this crisis through savage cuts to our pay, jobs and services.
And the so-called “War on Terror”, which has unleashed hell on the populations of Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, continues: now with a NATO bombing campaign on Libya, whilst the dictators of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain retain their support.
To discuss, debate, learn about, and organise the alternative to this world in crisis comes REVOLUTION Summer Camp 2011, on 8-12 August.
This year, it will take place in England, which just a few months ago saw a tremendous rebellion of youth and students against cuts and the privatisation of education – pushed through by a right-wing coalition government that no-one wanted.
REVOLUTION was at the forefront of that resistance, as we have been in so many different struggles in so many different countries – consistently fighting against war, racism and poverty.
We’re inviting revolutionary youth like you to join us for five days of anti-capitalism, august sunshine and socialising and socialism. Don’t miss it – register your place today!
What’s going on?
Political and practical workshops on:
• How South Africans beat apartheid • The Russian revolution 1917 • Nuclear power and global warming • how to fight fascism and much more…
• How to be a great journalist • Making a brilliant speech • organising school walkouts and much more…
• Theories of Karl Marx and VI Lenin • Trotsky versus Stalin and much more…
• Parties by the campfire • Games and sports: capture the flag • Meet socialist youth from across the world
Where is it?
Near Upminster in Essex, just a short journey by public transport from London
Will it be in my language?
We aim to have both English and German language sessions, with Swedish translation available.
How much will it cost?
Only £60/E70, and a bit more for food, which will be provided by our amateur, but brilliant chefs
Do I have to bring a tent?
No, tents are provided – but you should bring a sleeping bag, pillow and suitable clothes.
I’ve heard enough – I want to come!
Great – then register below and we will send you a further email to organise payment and other practicalities.
