The Strange Death of Knowing Stuff Wed Dec 24, 2025 19:00 | Dave Summers
In his Sixth Form Christmas quiz this year, none of Dave Summers's students could name the author of To Kill a Mockingbird ? previously one of the easy questions. Another sign that wokery is dissolving our culture.

Will Labour Ban Christmas Carols Next? Wed Dec 24, 2025 17:00 | Julian Mann
If Christmas songs fall foul of Labour's 'banter ban', Christmas carols ? with their 'offensive' assertions of the divinity of Christ that are deemed blasphemous by Islam ? are even more likely to, says Julian Mann.

Starmer to Push Britain into Stricter Net Zero Targets Under EU Deal Wed Dec 24, 2025 15:26 | Will Jones
Keir Starmer is preparing to tie Britain to the EU's Net Zero plans in a move that would impose radically stricter 'green' energy targets on homes and businesses, leading to further deindustrialisation and impoverishment.

Surely the gardai will have enough on their hands during the royal visit . Couldn't we just send our details straight to Harcourt Street ?
I've just worked out that BYOP stands for " Bring your own booze"
How about this one : PYOHC
Sorry, should have written BYOB = bring your own booze. Eds please correct that small typo for me thanks.
Answer to the quiz::
PYOHC of course stands for Provide your own handcuffs.
..coming round again.
Cut Public Spending, Beat Yourself Up.
Yeah... the idea of giving our own details to the Guards does sound odd and certainly will not be for everyone but some of us have already become 'known to the Gardai' more than once though protest activities and have little to lose by doing this.
Others of us have no record and probably won't ever have one unless someone like Pinochet takes over in which case all of us posting here are probably already profiled by the sites we surf or friends we call on our mobile phones, and if they want to we could all probably be picked up on the first morning of the coup and in that eventuality my friends we will all meet up interned in Croke Park.
I don't believe it will give the Gardai any significant intelligence-gathering advantage to know that I am going to a talk and a party. I don't think any activist who could be compromised by it would attend this event. It's a choice we can make as activists, nobody else is putting us in danger.
I'm a member of LASC (I think - I probably let it lapse but I am definitely a supporter) but I might not visit the centre more than onse every 2years. But I want to attend this because it's annoying to be told by the state that I can't. LASC is right in the zone where all conventional protest is banned - it's between Kildare St and Merrion St - and it's happening at a time when the state is making a serious attempt to quash the right of free assembly. To have this mocking party, that obeys the letter of the law but that will probably cause worry and stress to the watchers but that the state will find hard to ban outright without some embarassment, can be seen as a creative attempt at reclaiming the centre . I dont' think LASC deserve to be derided for this - maybe comrades you can employ your undoubted verbal virtuosity on mocking the queen and her gombeens.
Having said that, good luck with your own protests and activism this May month.
Sometimes the best location is the bullseye. If we cower down the fuckers have won already. I'd attend if I were closer. My membership lapses and gets renewed over time. Been an admirer of LASC since the seventies. Our current conditions, with their re-echoes of Latin American debt-traps makes it all the more relevant and appropriate that they are, again, the locus. Its a bit like the King of Spain touring Venezuela just after the death of Bolivar, not fucking yet thanks.
