Creative Non-Fiction Reading with Steve Conway

category dublin | arts and media | event notice author Tuesday February 22, 2011 19:18author by Ruairi - Seven Towers Report this post to the editors

Reading and banter with broadcaster and writer Steve Conway, author of "Shiprocked: Life on the Waves with Radio Caroline"

Steve will be reading from his best selling memoir Shiprocked, Life on the Waves with Radio Caroline in which he created the best, and the worst, of times fighting to stay on the waves – in every possible meaning of that statement – with Radio Caroline, including the collapse of the great mast, existing without food, life without chocolate, and what running aground is really like
THE MEZZ (UPSTAIRS AT THE TWISTED PEPPER 54 MIDDLE ABBEY ST) 7 PM

Steve Conway is a writer and broadcaster from Dublin. His vast experience as a broadcaster includes working on the legendary Radio Caroline – being one of the last of the crew to be airlifted to safety when the final radio ship – the Ross Revenge ran aground on the Goodwin Sands in Kent in 1991. Steve also worked on pirate radio stations in Dublin and worked on Phantom FM from its pirate days, though to its establishment as a legitimate station. Today Steve is a freelance journalist, a writer of creative non-fiction, and broadcasts on Phantom 105.2FM in Dublin, the now land-based satellite station Radio Caroline (Sky Channel 099) into the UK and beyond and on Radio Seagull, the last remaining off-shore radio station, which broadcasts into the UK,, the Netherlands and Spain, as well as over the internet.
