![]() In the afternoon on the 22nd September, three protesters climbed the legs of a drilling rig to disrupt Shell's work in the SAC Sruwaddacon Bay estuary The protesters were well prepared with plenty of food and water, they even had a hammock so rest could be taken. All three stayed in their positions through out Wednesday and into Thursday morning, with a support team camped on shore to keep an eye on them. At around 6am one of the protesters came down voluntarily, the other two kept their positions. The Garda water unit issued Section 8 warnings and then boarded the rig and pulled the protesters from their positions with considerable force. They were both arrested and later released without charge. |
