Foreshore licence granted for estuary survey work

category mayo | environment | news report author Saturday June 12, 2010 20:07author by Stop Shell Report this post to the editors

Update on foreshore licence, CAOs and pipeline application

So this is a quick update of recent events.

*FORESHORE LICENCE*
The foreshore licence for bore holes in Sruth Fhada Chonn estuary has been
granted by the Minister for Environment. This means that Shell have
permission to make up to 80 bore holes in the estuary and work will begin shortly. This is an EU Special Area of Conservation and Special Protected Area.
Here is a link to an article about the work they want to do in the estuary:
http://www.indymedia.ie/article/95785

*COMPULSORY ACQUISTION ORDERS*
Local landowners have received applications for compulsory aquistion orders
in relation to the new pipeline route. We have until the 28th July to object.
The CAOs will not be served on individuals until this process is complete.

*PIPELINE APPLICATION*
An Bord Pleanala will probably ask for submissions about Shell's new information on the pipeline application next week. We have 4 weeks after this date to hand in submissions.

Hope thats all clear, if any of you can make it down over the next few weeks
that would be great!

Nice to see gormless throwing his buddies at shell a bone. Disgusting behaviour, allowing shell to destroy a SAC, for preparatory works on a route they have not got permission for. Needless to say it will eventually be granted once the govt lean on ABP like 2003. Considering all that has occurred with BP in the USA, with 'fail safe' valves and the like, one might imagine there would be far greater consideration given to projects like this. Not by these dirty leach-like greens clinging on to power for all they are worth. Disgusting behaviour from a corrupt little party who have learned from the best.
