'Chew On This' Community Art Mini-Project

category dublin | arts and media | event notice author Tuesday February 23, 2010 12:24author by RachelLYCS - Lourdes Youth & Community Servicesauthor email racheldempsey at lycs dot ie Report this post to the editors

Exploring local-global food issues in the community through art

Are you working in the community with a group of adults or young people?
Would you like to get involved in an exciting art awareness mini-project?

If so, you are invited to come to a half day workshop on March 15 to explore how what we eat affects our planet and its people. You will also learn and how to transform what you’ve learnt into a simple piece of art.
After the workshop, you will go back to your project, and pass on your learning to your participants, and get them to make their own art pieces on the theme of food.
All the art pieces made will be put together and will be exhibited in one or more of Dublin’s community gardens, and at the Latin America Week seminar on 24 April 2010.
This project will not cost you anything, and the art pieces will be made with simple recycled materials.

Training Workshop:
Where: Lourdes Youth & Community Services Adult Programme, Lower Rutland Street, Dublin 1.
When: Monday 15 March 10am-1.30pm
Open to: Anyone working in the community sector with a group of adults or young people able to contribute art work for the exhibition
Booking: Places are limited and booking by Monday 8 March is necessary. To book, phone Rachel or Helena in LYCS on 01 823 0860 or email racheldempsey@lycs.ie
Organisers: Lourdes Youth and Community Services and the Latin America Solidarity Centre
