Boots Workers Fight For Justice To Begin!

Republican Network for Unity in county Kildare have received Clarification that Boots Employee's areto begin striking against several pay cuts been forced on them by the multi-national company. Willy Hamilton chairperson of Kildare Trade unions and associate of Mandate Trade Union who are dealing with the situation informed Damien Dillon P.R.O of the Republican Network for Unity Cumann in Kildare, on the 6th of Novemeber 2009 employee's of Boots voted on strike action, resulting in a 64% majority in favour of strike action. Striking will commence in fourtheen days time and decisions on which stores to be picketed will be made on monday 9th November 2009.

Republican Network for Unity in Kildare has recently become aware of the introductions of pay cuts to all Boots employee’s to come into affect in mid- November. Employees of Boots Pharmaceutical are being asked to take a 15’5% wage reduction at top scale of pay from €14.20 to €12 per hour. They are also being forced to take a 25% reduction in holiday pay and a 25% reduction to Sunday premiums.

Republican Network for Unity in Kildare reject these proposals, this is again a multi national company exploiting the ordinary working class. This is a company who profited 20 million euro in 2008 and with a current cash reserve for 2009 in excess of 70 million euro. Republican Network for Unity in the 26 counties will be watching developments on this dispute and will fully back the working class once again.
