The UKHSA refused to publish data that could link the Covid vaccine to excess deaths, the Telegraph reports, arguing that it would cause bereaved relatives "distress or anger".

The Mail submitted Freedom of Information requests to Britain's police forces asking how many arrests they had made for 'offensive' social media posts. The numbers are alarmingly high -- over 30 a day in 2023 and only slightly less in 2024.

Dublin Launch of Bertie Ahern's Memoirs

category dublin | arts and media | event notice author Monday October 05, 2009 17:28author by T. R. Eason Report this post to the editors

Bertie Ahern will be signing copies of his new autobiography "I Won It On A Horse", at Eason, O'Connell Street, Dublin on Saturday, 10th of October 2009 at 3:00 PM.
ahern_1.jpg

Bertie Ahern, three times Irish Taoiseach, is often described as an enigma.

The IRA man’s son who claims he delivered peace in Ireland. A working class boy who claims he was responsible for the Celtic Tiger. The devout Catholic man of faith who lived openly with a mistress for years. Now in this frank and revealing autobiography, Ahern gives his own account of a remarkable political life and the personal story that accompanies it.

Ahern has in the past that he was educated at UCD and the London School of Economics while those institutions have no record of him. Why did his marriage break down? How did he buy his house? Why did he meet with Shell executives in private? Why did hs friends have to do a whip round for him when he was earning a high salary and had no outgoings? Why dd he open so many bank and building society accounts? What was his relationship with Ben Dunne during the Haughey era?

This and other mysteries of Bertie may be cleared up in the book. Or maybe not.

Well if he is "responsible for the Celtic Tiger"!!! -then he is responsible for the mess we are left with now that the bubble has burst.

The former Finance Minister who never had a bank account (go figure) will be pushing his book in a few other branches of Easons over the next few weeks*-

I think he owes us some explanations. If he does, try not to break your sides laughing.

* = I'm sure many people will want to give him a "warm" reception.

Der not really me memwars, only a selecteh few dat I can remember, like. It comes an' goes, this memree buzniss, and Albert has a buke out wid all his memreez in it dat he'd forgottin so why can't I? Anyone who was up beafore the beak . . .the Trybunil hasta right a buke after because of all you can't be expecteh to remember when der all lukin' at yuh as if yuh were makin' tings up. I remember askin' some bloke up on de bench if dis was de Castle an,' if so, what toime de first fillum started at, but he wasunt amuzd. I hope my memwars get putt in evry second or turd levill school like the buke on Dev who is, so far as I remember, dead. I'd prefer second levill because obveeisly it's better dan turd. At leest I'm not tick enuff to tink Eye-ensteyn created the universe, like Mary Cocklin. But Donegal is a very strange plaice. I here John O'Doneahew is writin' his memwars too but at half-a-millyun Yourow a copy he'll be waitin'. I think I'll hav Cecelia do me next buke. Fikshun is a great cellar, I here. The Bull told sumwun he wishes Pete Sayers waz still aloive and he could have his memwars ghost-writtin.' He'd put it down to expensis and include the exhumiliashun. I mean exhumashun. Nun of dis is a laffin' matter now dat John is sayin' as how heed like a shot at a Fawss job. He's been putt in his plaice, doh: der wont be anymore See Eee or Jay Eye skeems by de time he duz de right ting. If I was in me stride I'd do it for him. De big Kerry headen him. Where's Jackie Well-Heeled Ray when yu' knead him?

In the last few days I've found myself commenting on Sarah Palin's autobiography "Going Rogue" on a variety of websites & in a few languages. The world is a enthralled ( it seems from the newspaper rags they sustain ) that Sarah Palin the Republican vice-president contender from Alaska has managed to publish an autobiography one whole season ahead of its commission date.

She must not only be eager but she undoubtedly stretched the capabilities of her ghost writer.

Coz she didn't actually sit down at the computer or typewriter and write the thing herself. She didn't even form the paragraphs, structure the narrative or wedge in the memorable quotable bits in fair distribution through the fe hundred pages of hard back herself.

Nope.

It was ghost written as many other important memoires have been before and it seems will be in the future. Ghost writing is big biz. Bertie Ahern's book (I love the illustration by the way) was most likely ghost written as well. But whereas Sarah Pain's daughter went off and had a potentially politically compromising teenage pregnancy out of wedlock, Bertie's daughter was launched on a career as one of Ireland's 21st century novelists. We presume that Bertie had someone to confide in over the content, style, pitch and layout as he toiled over his opus.

To finish my comment & its toilet humour completely & utterly related to an article I put up on the "other press" section today http://www.indymedia.ie/article/94350( rather than attempting to glorify it holescale [sic] in the national news section), which told how parents of a girls' school in Cork have been officially told to provide their young wans with toilet paper (because the state budget can't stretch to the notoriously rank Irish school waxed serviettes)

I'd just like to republish here a simple observation, smutty in its comedic insight and wisdom which I have already shared with many internet users globally.

It goes like this :-

Whilst Sarah Palin was campaiging with John Mc Cain against Obama, the father of US porn, who he himself came to prominence and billlionare status under the Clinton adminstration - Larry Flint issued a porn movie with a Palin lookalike and two men with big verile members pretending to be Russians. The joke was as obvious as the plot. However the world never attempted to pretend to itself that Palin had made the movie. It's accepted she was mocked. Now she publishes memoires which she didn't actually write, or edit or sweat or moan over - & the world talks about "her autobiography".

................................................................What goes for Palin goes for Bertie.

Except of course we don't have a Bertie porn movie yet. Naturally the less inhibited & more entrepeneurish amongst the readership are already thinking about the possibilities...........

If a mere well executed oil painting of Bertie's dauphin Cowen on the bog with his droopy tits could excite censure and condemnation............ just think what a home made fisting vid starring a Bertie lookalike could do.

no end of bullshit - how RTE reported the legacy of Bertie Ahern's government - no rag roll on a stylish holder.

According to Bertie's book the former Taoiseach found it hard to deal with Gerry Adams when FF had to negotiate with Sinn Fein. He found Martin McGuinness easier to get on with. Make of that what you will.
