Only 10 months old and on her second protest!
help someone, any one ?
we had a recent statment by a leading politician that - those that owe money to the bank
and get NAMA -ed, will still owe the money to the bank. Hmm. So 1) Joe McDeveloper buys land.
+cant pay loan for land=Assets toxic. 2) bank disposes toxic assets to NAMA. 3) Joe McDeveloper
still owes money to bank but now has no assets. = THEFT OF ASSETS BY STATE
or am i mistaken
no
1. developer bribes conciller for rezoning of land
2. developer pays for land with bank loan
3. developer cannot pay back bank.
4. state pays the loan back instead and takes over book
5. developer given more money to devlop land
6. A. whole thing goes bust, state is out of pocket, and has bought very overpriced shoebox apartments
B. developer makes money and pays back state, and we have a new housing bubble
7. Go back to 1.
There was not 1200 on the march it was more like 450. Exaggerated claims like this only bring the campaign into disrepute. Even on their own website the IPU only said that 400 were at the protest.
Thanks for the photos but please do not make such exaggerated claims.
why is there no - NO TO NAMA - feature up on imc-ie, theres many many many up regarding no to lisbon (most with same story links) - from outside it seems that NAMA is just not too important....
regarding numbers...
irish times: 1,500 protest over cuts and Nama
http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2009/0921/1....html
rte: Up to 1,000 people took part in a march in Dublin city centre.

Well for a start no one did a report on last Saturdays demo.
It was a bit disappointing - about 1,400 at it. What made things worse was that RBB claimed from the platform that there were 5,000 on the march. It was patently obvious that this was not the case.
We also had a gobdaw from the "Irish Peoples Union" speaking. He made the point that he employed a lot of people and was proud to be an employer. He also stressed that he wanted thousands of Irish people on these demos.
What was he doing speaking there in the first place? Employers have a 1001 different ways to avoid paying taxes. Also the IPU represent nothing. At least RBB pointed out that he wanted all workers to attend these demos.
Great speechs from Joe Higgins and Joan Collins but I wondered why some of the other speakers were even there.
Not going to get into figures about how many were there.
I wouldn't go as far as saying it was disappointing. There was a good spread of organisations represented and without the trade union movement- it was a decent enough crowd there.
IPU speaker was an idiot-wouldn't have him near a platform. Not a huge issue though.
Interested what pat means by saying "I wondered why some of the other speakers were even there."
Who exactly- Rita Fagan? John Bissett? Coca Cola worker? MTL worker? Crumlin Hospital Campaign organiser?
Some of the speakers could hardly speak. The Cocoa Cola speaker was actually a retired worker and said how great the previous Coke management were.
Also there were too many speakers. That bores people and it could be seen as people drifted away. At the end there were only a few hundred people present.
Its better to have 4 or 5 good speakers who will energise those in attendance to bring the struggle on to the next stage.
1,400 on 19 Septembe is disappointing especially when those who should have known better were claiming that there were 1,200 on the 12 September demo. I have discussed this with members of 4 different groups and with independents. They all say 400 - 450 were on that demo.
Claiming that 1,200 were on a demo makes a demo of 1,400 the week after look bad. It looks as if there has been no growth.
Any news from pb4p on the 'ring around the dail' or has that disappeared into the denial-void?
