It's not CO2 that drives the climate, says astrophysicist Dr Henrik Svensmark. Its the Sun and cosmic rays. But you won't hear about this because only one viewpoint is now allowed in the pseudo-science of climate.

Dublin Ógra condemn British Navy arrival

Dublin Ógra Shinn Fein Banner Drop - HMS Mersey

Dublin Ógra Shinn Féin protested today against the arrival of the British naval vessel the HMS Mersey (P283) in Dublin Port. The vessel, which is armed with a 20mm cannon and two machine guns arrived in Dublin yesterday morning and is due to leave on Thursday at 0600.

Dublin Ógra Shinn Féin spokesperson Daithi Byrne said; ''This ship is representative of the same navy that is responsible for occupation and oppression across the globe. We are here today to tell the British Navy that there are not welcome in Ireland and to show our opposition to the display of British force. The open arm welcoming of this ship by the Government is insensitive and unacceptable.''

Dublin Ógra Shinn Féin spokesperson Mick Farrell has called on the Government as a matter of urgency to frame a coherent strategy to tackle the crisis in Irish fishing. This comes as the British naval vessel the HMS Mersey, which is responsible for harassing Irish fishermen in Irish waters, arrived in Dublin. Dublin Ógra questioned the Government on quota allocation management, the high level of fines imposed on Irish fishermen, and the Government's strategy to protect the Irish Box conservation area. "The restrictions placed on fishermen are making many feel that they are being criminalized for pursuing their livelihood.", said Mick Farrell.

Can the original author please provide prrof to the claim that "This comes as the British naval vessel the HMS Mersey, which is responsible for harassing Irish fishermen in Irish waters, arrived in Dublin"?

And may I ask how much do you get paid for this activity and protests? Is it viable as a fulltime occupation or just a little extra?

This was a great piece of non-violent direct action. Any ideas on how to get such activities more publicity? Obviously the mainstream media need to be bypassed.

The British Navy were scared away.

They slinked off.

They never even dared to fire a shot.

It will be a good day when people can concentrate on what the protest is about, and not which flavour group is doing it, and who isn't, and who is in the pictures etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc

As for those who think a protest is justified when one group do it and not when another one does, catch yourselves on (or get a job with the Herald).

I for one am glad that OSF protested against the British Navy (but no photos of any OSF?). It now appears that OSF and RSF made that protest as well as Éirigí. Wouldn't the protest have looked more powerful had all three groups protested together and called on other groups to support?

OSF, you appear to be opposed to British rule in Ireland. The leadership of your organisation with the full inclusive and democratic support of Sinn Fein members are implementing British rule in Ireland. Do you understand the problem? Put away the water pistols and protest as republicans without the OSF banner.

I'd say the sailors must have a good launch at your poxy demonstration.

Whose getting laid tonight? You or them?

It is ridculous that OSF protest against a boat in Dublin but at the same time Adams and co had no problem meeting Tony Blair and George Bush when they were pummeling Iraq to bits. The banner says "Brits Out". Why? At this point its pretty clear SF don't have a huge problem with British presence in Ireland or anywhere for that matter.
