New Poetry Collection Launched in Galway

Athenry, Co. Galway, poet Anji O'Donnell will launch her very first collection of poetry, 'High & Dry,' at the Galway Peoples' Resource Centre, Canavan House, Nuns Island, Galway at 5pm on Wednesday, August 12th. Anji O'Donnell works with Challenging Minds, a Mental Health Advocacy Project which aims to eradicate the stigma still attaching to mental illness. All welcome.

"It's always a good thing when someone finds their voice in poetry for the first time," said Fred Johnston, the Western Writers' Director. "Our thanks to the Galway People's resource Centre."

Anji O'Donnell read from her work, her first collection of poems, to an assembly of friends and other writers at Canavan House, Nuns Island, this afternoon, for the launch of her first collection of poems. Among the audience was writer and activist, Margaretta D'Arcy and Marvelle Maguire, the Centre's Administrator. Fred Johnston, Director of the Centre, praised the openness and honesty of the poems in the collection and said that we might all learn from reflecting upon them. The book is on sale at Canavan House, price €5.
