Just to alert anyone in Cork who may be interested, Francesco will also speak on the same topic in Cork on Wednesday 11 Feb at the Victoria Hotel on Patrick's Street. The meeting is timed for 8 pm.

It is also hoped that from this meeting, we may be able to assemble a group of people who would form a branch of HOV in Cork. Anyone interested in finding out more about the Cork meeting or who would be interested in getting involved with Cork HOV can email me at the enclosed address.

“This is extraordinary stuff – the filmmakers document the unfolding drama
with urgency, minimal intrusion and vivid clarity... The piercing coverage
of a remarkable forty-eight hours makes (the film) one of the most riveting
documentaries of the year – and one of the most timely.”
– Sean Farnel, Toronto International Film Festival 2003

“A superior example of fearless filmmakers in exactly the right place
at the right time. A startling record.”
– Scott Foundas, Variety

I hadn't read of this before:

''....Incoming opposition mayors and governors had their budgets and powers hollowed and their offices stripped of computers and furniture. Dozens of activists in red T-shirts and quasi-military gear broke into Caracas city hall three weeks ago, sprayed graffiti and declared it a centre of popular revolutionary resistance. "This is not an occupation, it's a social action. We can't let the fascists take control," said Luis "Bambam" Rodriguez, 32, guarding an entrance covered in Chávez posters.

Police have refused to dislodge the squatters, said the new mayor, Antonio Ledezma. "It's an attempt to sabotage the new administration," he said. "The government uses these groups to foment violence."

A radical "chavista" group which travels on motorcycles stormed the Ateneo theatre to break up an opposition meeting. It threw teargas, roughed up staff and declared the building a "revolutionary military objective". Police made no arrests....''
