North West Support for Gaza

The North West Solidarity Network have issued a statement condemning the slaughter in Gaza which has hugely escalated since Saturday 27th December with at the time of this press release deaths standing at over 350 people. North West Solidarity Network, which organises events in solidarity with Palestine, has called on people to become involved to provide support for the besieged people of Gaza and for all the Palestinian people.

A spokesperson for the group, Dónall Ó Mearáin, said “we are presently working with other members and branches of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign throughout the country to continuously raise awareness of the situation in Palestine. At present we are working to develop the boycott campaign. Such a campaign was very successful in the fight to end Apartheid in South Africa. We feel humanity does not do not have the option of standing idly by watching such horrendous events without trying to do something to stop it”.

Work on extending the boycott campaign is already well underway in other parts of the country including Sligo, where businesses refuse to take any goods from Israel, such areas will then become known as “Apartheid Free Zone’s”. Organisers believe that this will send a clear message that ‘the world is watching and is taking action’.

There will be a public meeting in Dorrian’s Hotel, Ballyshannon on Monday 19th January. For further information people can contact nwsolidarity@yahoo.com.

Those wishing to boycott Israeli products are living in cloud cuckoo land. They are supporting killers and murderers by doing so. Hamas has no desire to live in peace with Israel and its only desire and function is to rally Arabs around the world and all Muslims to train and kill Jews wherever they can find one. That is their only desire. It is in their manifesto and it is written in the Quran, their holy book. The enemy is not Israel, the enemy is Jihadist Islam. By boycotting Israel, you are saying that Hamas is right. Kill all Jews until Islam rules the world. That means of course that Catholics are next, followed by Protestants, Hindus and Buddists.

On March of this year, this is the statement of Fathi Ahmed Hammad which I quote. You can check out his statements from their Television site: Please refer to www.peacewithrealism.org/headline/admit.htm

March 15, 2008 - To enlighten those who may have harbored any doubts, Fathi Ahmad Hammad, member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, said it loud and said it proud: Palestinians deliberately use women and children as human shields.
This is the transcript of his remarks (but it is worth watching the clip just to hear the hatred in his voice):
[The enemies of Allah] do not know that the Palestinian people (excluding Palestinian Jews) has developed its [methods] of death and death-seeking. For the Palestinian people, death has become an industry, at which women excel, and so do all the people living on this land.

The elderly excel at this, and so do the mujahideen and the children. This is why they have formed human shields of the women, the children, the elderly, and the mujahideen, in order to challenge the Zionist bombing machine.

It is as if they were saying to the Zionist enemy: "We desire death like you desire life."
Hammad is a leader of the Izzedeen al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, and in 2006 was elected to the Palestinian Parliament as a Hamas representative. He is also director of Al-Aqsa TV, which aired his comments on February 29.
You may remember Al-Aqsa TV. This is the TV station that fills dear little ears with hate, that brought Palestinian children Farfur Mouse and Nahoul Bee. Among its many poisonous features are music videos, such as one showing a four-year-old girl singing a song to her mom, who blows herself up and kills four Israeli soldiers. Afterwards the girl holds a bomb and sings: "I am following Mommy in her steps." Other videos feature children in military uniforms and holding guns.

Now Hammad discloses the Hamas strategy, which some have suspected but few have actually believed: use people, especially women and children, as human shields. If you won't believe me, will you believe a member of Hamas?

This strategy has been immensely successful. Fire at Israeli cities from schoolyards, and make Israel choose between allowing its own children to be targets or risking harm to others. Now we know beyond a doubt that Hamas knows what it is doing, and is doing it intentionally.

But people still will not believe. The prevailing attitude is typified in the words of Javier Solana, head of foreign policy for the European Union:

"I cannot imagine that the religious imperative, the real religious imperative, can make anybody destroy another country.... Therefore that is an abuse of religion.... I don't think the essence of Hamas is the destruction of Israel. The essence of Hamas is the liberation of the Palestinians, the liberation of their people, not the destruction of Israel."

What a fool Solana is then. He reminds me of Chambeland who believed Hitler was a peace loving leader.

This is the mistake Westerners, profoundly ignorant of history, make over and over again: to assume that all cultures everywhere hold the same values they do. This is a dangerous form of ethnocentrism.

The Irish too are being hoodwinked by the Hamas propaganda just like many were by Hitlers ranting and raving.

Boycotting Israeli products means that you must not use your computers with Intel inside, use flash memory systems on your mobile phones, fly on aircraft with jet propulsion as the blades are made in Israel for GE, Rolls Royce plus others. All Boing aircraft and the Airbus control panels are made in Israel, therfore you should not fly and so on.

Of course you can be stupid if you want to be as the saying goes, stupid is what stupid does. Most uneducated can be easily brainwashed just like the Muslim masses and now it seems also the Sligo and Donegal masses.

You say that by boycotting Israeli products we are supporting killers and murderers this is untrue rather by not boycotting Israeli products we will be supporting killers and murders. Israel is operating an aparthide system against Arab Israelis in its own country and also against the Palestinians in the occupied territories. For 40 years now millions of people have suffered discrimination and human rights abuses. Israel has Ignored countless United Nations resolutions and the rulings of the International court its actions serve to radicalise an otherwise peaceful and decent people. When will Israel give the right of return to the Palestinian refugees it drove from their homes 60 years ago at the point of a gun. Recognise the plank in your own eye before you point to the splinter in someone else’s eye.

Pressure must be brought to bear to reverse the tax concessions in agriculture, processed food and fisheries given to Israel by the EU. Since Israel has chosen to ignore the calls of EU leaders to stop its massacre in Gaza the reply to them must be an ending of their special status.

Please contact your politicians, especially you MEP's and make your views know. This special arrangement with Israel, at our expense can be reversed and now is the time.

Just a start but check the Barcode of products – 729 means don’t buy it….

The Israeli barcode starts with 729

Aims
Raise awareness among consumers about the consequences of buying Israeli goods and services. Pressurise supermarkets and shops into removing goods with barcode 729 - denoting Israeli origin - from their shelves. Encourage companies who make use of Israeli technology and components to find alternatives and join the boycott. Focus the attention of the world on Israeli occupation and apartheid and expose those who bankroll the Israeli regime; and to foster an environment in which it is unacceptable to promote Israeli policies.

While the 729 bar code is widely publicised, anyone who looks at the origin of produce while shopping will quickly see that this is simply not true. We in Derry have been doing boycott activities for some time now and did start with leaflets with the 729 bar code info. Then, when we were doing supermarket disruption activities (filling trolleys with Israeli goods and refusing to pay for them after they've been put through the checkout), we saw that things had "produce of Israel" or similar on it but with other bar codes. Since then, I just bring my reading glasses with me when shopping and make sure to check the country of origin of everything I buy. Recently, some supermarkets have started to carry items with "produce of the West Bank" on them. These are the worst: they are the produce of illegal settlements on the West Bank, not Palestinian produce.
