Are the pigs accountable to no one?

Are the pigs accountable to no one?

Are the pigs accountable to no one? Just seen an unmarked red pig car flying up the wrong side of the road on Parnell Street just past Moore Street (It was going so fast that I couldn't even see what make of car that it was!). What was worse was that this section of Parnell Street is a 'segregated' roadway like O'Connell Street there is a concrete traffic island seperating both sides of the road so there was nowhere for oncoming traffic or pedestrians to go. Can anything be done about this kind of blatant abuse of the road traffic laws? Or is it yet again a case of one law for the law and another law for the rest of us?

was that they were chasing someone. If you found a burgular in your house and phoned 999, would you prefer they got to you before he knifed your family or followed the rules of the road?

I'm 100% in favour of a police ombudsman and without doubt the police have serious problems in their organisation. But lets not take it too far.

They were struck by a speeding car (a BMW traveling 60 plus in a residental area) at a junction responding to a (later found out to be false) emergency call.

I'll never be the Gardaí's apologists but the death of anyone on our roads is a waste.

One of the better ideas i heard recently was that there was going to be a critical mass with everyone dressed in black carrying the name of someone killed on our roads in the last twelve months (Gardaí, motorists and pedestrian)

It'd be a powerful symbol.

John and Aidan you're not really not answering my central point, namely is it ok for the cops to break every rule in the book? All road deaths are a terrible waste of life. I should point out that it was 6:50PM when this happened yesterday and Parnell Street was clear of traffic at this stage. They could have gone on the right side of the road with no problems at all. Why then did they fly up the wrong side of Parnell Street endangering pedestrians and motorists in the process? Was it just to prove that they are 'hard men'? And to show who's boss?

Paul I don't know why. I wasn't there, nor was I in the car, either were you I should point out.

Maybe it was a genuine emergency, maybe they wanted to get back to store street before the last donuts where gone, you're never going to know.

But you seem intent in painting a lurid picture of two cackling coke addled Gardaí tearing up the street for the fun of it, when you're not sure what was happening you're assuming the worse.

Ever consider a career in tabloid journalism? You're like the Anti Paul Reynolds.

In your first post;

"there is a concrete traffic island seperating both sides of the road so there was nowhere for oncoming traffic or pedestrians to go"

When in your second;

"I should point out that it was 6:50PM when this happened yesterday and Parnell Street was clear of traffic at this stage."....

So basically it's invisible non existant pedestrians you were worrying about.

Paul seeing as you have an abundance of moral outrage I suggest you check the terms of the Morris Inquiry tribunal, and see some real outrageous abuse of Gardaí power.
