An interview by Madam K on 11/09/08 with Maura Harrington, who is on hunger strike against the presence of the Solitaire in Irish territorial waters. The Solitaire is employed to carry out pipe-laying work on behalf of Shell in Broadhaven Bay, Co. Mayo, Ireland.

Thank you Madame K for bringing us this interview with Maura Harrington.

I admire Maura for her stance, I salute her courage and her convictions but I sincerely hope she will not pay the ultimate price for them. Solidarity indeed, but from a sad heart who cant believe it has come to this. Shame on Shell, shame on this Govt, shame, shame. What a disgrace to humanity they truly are.

Please keep us updated on how she is. May her spirit remain strong and unbroken And may she come off the hunger strike soon with a successful outcome!

Myself and a few friends joined the Dublin Shell to Sea solidarity demo outside the GPO today for this brave lady. It was well attended and we were glad to be there to show our support.

The lock on commence at approx 5.30 am and continued into afternoon.

The video footage above shows scene from 9am.The Garda had forced back supporters from 6.30 with threat of arrest under section 8.

Those involved in action ceased lock by their own choice at approx 1pm having received confirmation that the Solitaire was leaving Broadhaven Bay.

More footage to come.
